Position Summary:
This entry-level supervisory position is accountable for directing hourly employees in the safe and efficient production of quality railcar parts for the facility. This position is accountable to implement improvement projects which includes maintaining progress reports and displays, developing/managing cell improvements, and contributing to the achievement of plant goals.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring all employees work safely and adhere to all safety and environmental rules, regulations and policies set forth by the company and all regulatory agencies.
- Adhere to the quality policies, processes and procedures as well as ensure all employees do the same.
- Maintain production schedule through effective supervision and coordination of direct reports as well as all other internal customers.
- Ensure all employees in your area of responsibility are properly trained in all aspects of their position.
- Conform to all regulatory requirements such as EPA, OSHA….
- Modeling and adhering to the UTLX Values.
The incumbent works to epitomize the company’s Quality Policy and ensures that subordinates work always meets an internal and external customer expectation by fully applying himself/herself and subordinates to the tasks involved, preventing errors, and implementing personal and departmental quality improvement projects.
SKILLS/SPECIFICATIONS:
- Computer Skills to include Microsoft Office
- Problem Solving/Analysis skills and Change Management
- Time management and organizational skills
- Listening and feedback skills to include proficiently communicating with employees, peers, managers, internal and external customers
- Results driven
- Demonstrated self-development as well as the development of others which may include direct training experience of employees as well as preparing and organizing learning activities
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of demonstrated leadership experience
- Associates degree is preferred
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures that safety is always the priority.
- Ensure quality is adhered to and balance productivity, cost, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.
- Work to continuously improve in all areas.
- Work directly with Plant Manager to provide employee coaching and development and resolves employee issues through problem resolution.
- Work directly with Plant Manager to manage workflow through the shop and ensure that the shop schedule is adhered to which will include performing tasks that may be performed by hourly personnel when required.
- Work directly with Plant Manager to identify and implement and process improvements within the shop to improve efficiency, performance and reduce costs.
- Positive communication with the workforce, provide encourage and recognition to team to improve employee morale and help the company meets its goals.
