Gross Mendelsohn is seeking an experienced Accounting & Audit Supervisor to join our growing public accounting team. Our Supervisors work with a diverse portfolio of clients across a variety of industries, including nonprofits, government contractors, manufacturers, long-term care providers, construction companies, and professional service firms.
This position offers the opportunity to take a leadership role in client engagements while continuing to develop your technical accounting, audit, tax, and management skills within a collaborative, full-service CPA and advisory firm.

As an Accounting & Audit Supervisor, you'll play a key role in managing client engagements from planning through completion. You'll work closely with Partners and Managers, supervise and develop staff, communicate directly with clients, and help ensure that engagements are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Lead & Supervise Engagements: Perform and supervise audits, reviews, and compilations from planning through completion.

Manage Client Engagements: Manage multiple engagements, monitor deadlines and budgets, and ensure high-quality deliverables.

Prepare & Review Financial Statements: Prepare and review financial statements, workpapers, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

Prepare Tax Returns: Prepare and review Form 990, corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns.

Supervise & Develop Staff: Train, mentor, delegate work to, and provide feedback to Staff and Associates.

Build Client Relationships: Communicate directly with clients, understand their business needs, and provide responsive, professional service.

Provide Technical Guidance: Assist with complex accounting, audit, tax, and financial reporting matters.

Coordinate with Leadership: Work closely with Managers and Partners to resolve engagement issues and deliver comprehensive client solutions.

Support Business Development: Identify opportunities for additional accounting, tax, audit, and advisory services.

Leverage Technology: Utilize engagement, tax, accounting, and financial software to improve efficiency and engagement quality.

Travel to Client Sites: Travel throughout the DMV area for client engagements, with occasional overnight travel outside the region.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

5+ years of audit and accounting experience in a public accounting firm.

Strong experience with audits, reviews, and compilations.

Experience managing engagements and supervising accounting professionals.

Strong knowledge of accounting and financial reporting principles.

Experience preparing tax returns is preferred.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Work Environment
This role offers a hybrid work environment. The Estate and Trust Tax Manager will be expected to work in the office or attend client meetings as business needs require, particularly for client service, team leadership, and planning engagements.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods, lift up to 20 pounds, and manage physical files and documentation as needed.
