The Quality Distribution & Logistics team, within Mattel’s Quality, Trust & Impact organization, ensures product quality, safety, and compliance throughout distribution center operations across Mattel brands. The team is responsible for quality inspections, audits, product investigations, inventory quality controls, and corrective action management to ensure only compliant, customer-ready products enter or return to inventory. Through strong partnerships with operations, logistics, and customer teams, we help maintain Mattel’s commitment to delivering safe, trusted, and high-quality products to consumers around the world.
Job DescriptionThe Quality Assurance Supervisor, reporting to the Quality Manager, Distribution & Logistics, will lead day-to-day quality operations within Mattel’s distribution center network. This role is responsible for supervising quality personnel, driving compliance with Mattel quality standards, overseeing product inspections and rework activities, and ensuring customer-specific quality requirements are consistently met. The ideal candidate will combine strong operational leadership with analytical problem-solving skills to drive continuous improvement, enhance product quality, and support a best-in-class customer experience.
What Your Impact Will Be:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of quality associates, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
- Manage all supervisory responsibilities including hiring, training, performance management, employee development, and workforce planning.
- Ensure compliance with Mattel quality standards, policies, procedures, and safety requirements across distribution center operations.
- Oversee quality inspection programs including inbound, outbound, DTC, B2B, quarterly audits, spot checks, and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Manage quarantine, rework, disposition, and containment activities for nonconforming products.
- Develop and maintain quality metrics, KPI reporting, dashboards, and performance monitoring processes.
- Conduct root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Support consumer complaint investigations, field quality issues, and product defect analysis to identify trends and improve product performance.
- Partner with operations, inventory, logistics, customer service, and vendor partners to resolve quality concerns and improve processes.
- Support supplier and value-added services (VAS) quality activities, including material evaluations, audits, and supplier feedback.
- Create, implement, and maintain training programs, standard work instructions, and quality documentation.
- Monitor inventory quality controls, cycle counts, transfers, adjustments, and audit activities to ensure inventory accuracy and compliance.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, scalability, and customer satisfaction.
- Serve as the primary site contact for quality-related inquiries from internal stakeholders, customers, and external partners.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, logistics, warehouse, or operational leadership role.
- Experience leading teams and managing employee performance in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Experience with quality systems, inspections, audits, corrective actions, and quality documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues and make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple functions and locations.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply procedures, reports, safety requirements, and operational documentation.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a warehouse environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related field.
- Experience in warehouse, distribution, logistics, or consumer products environments.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Familiarity with consumer product safety, regulatory compliance, and quality standards.
- Experience conducting root cause analysis using methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, or similar tools.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
