Job Description:
The Automotive Product Group (APG) is a vertical marketing organization within Microchip that supports all Business Units (BUs) to drive and strengthen the company’s engagement in the automotive market. The group ensures products, systems, and business processes are prepared to meet the unique requirements of automotive customers.
This role is for an APG Supervisor of Engineering Planning, stationed in Chandler, AZ. The position requires a solution-driven, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a company-wide network, collaborating across BUs, regions, and departments. Success in this role depends on strong data management, process improvement, communication, and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
Management
Lead a team of 3 engineers in MPHIL with direct supervisory responsibilities.
Conduct weekly sync calls with global team members.
Manage team planning KPIs, approve time cards and time-off requests.
Serve as backup for the weekly report to senior management.
Act as the primary point of contact for PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) inquiries, collaborating with Product Engineering to resolve issues and enhance efficiency.
Systems & Process Enhancements
Partner with IT to identify system improvements and ensure seamless operation of the Automotive Planning Request process.
Develop and implement business logic for the PPAP portal to improve usability, workflow, and process adherence.
Data Management, PPAP Management & Compliance
Own and maintain high-quality, accurate data related to automotive parts (VAO, Vxx, QTP, OEM SAP, 510 ISELED, SW MCAL).
Collaborate with the New Product Planning group to align product setup with automotive standards (e.g., probe steps, mask patterns).
Track and escalate ongoing PDC issues to resolution.
Work closely with APG Product Engineering on ARA completion prior to automotive release.
Support smooth mask transitions for Automotive RTP or NREL activities.
Ensure quality documents are properly stored, dated, and retrievable in compliance with IATF 16949 requirements.
Maintain accuracy for all PPAP releases, ensuring validity of documents.
Assist internal stakeholders with retrieving and interpreting PPAP data.
Develop and maintain Tableau dashboards and reports to support APG’s analytical requirements across planning, inventory, PPAP, and release compliance.
Pricing & Financial Support
Apply pricing rules for automotive-grade products (e.g., 10% adder to standard-grade devices or BU-specific pricing curves).
Manage and respond to PL-10 pricing inquiries and ensure monthly updates are submitted to Barbara Alvarez.
Change Control and WIP & Inventory Oversight
Review and analyze corporate PCNs (Product Change Notices).
Lead weekly internal team reviews to update APR and ensure timely updates for VAO/APG-Std. devices.
Oversee WIP/FG conversion and manage back-end work orders to support customer demand.
Manage upgrade/downgrade of QS lots to meet allocation needs.
Personal & Professional Skills
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all levels (sales, product engineering, operations, marketing, executive management).
High accuracy and attention to data integrity.
Ability to design and conduct training sessions, fostering cross-functional understanding of processes.

Capability to manage complex global interactions across multiple BUs, regions, and functions.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field with 5-6 years of relevant experience, or a Masters degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field with 2.5-3 years of relevant experience.
Proven experience in the automotive semiconductor industry or adjacent sectors.
Prior leadership/supervisory experience managing small teams is preferred.
Experience with data systems (ERP/SAP, Tableau, planning processes).
Strong organizational and project management skills.
