Step into a high-impact leadership role where safety, reliability, and community service come first. As a Supervisor, Operations, you will lead a dedicated team of skilled, unionized front-line professionals to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of a critical gas distribution system within your assigned area. This is an opportunity for a hands-on leader who excels in fast-paced environments, values operational excellence, and is passionate about developing people while strengthening the integrity of essential infrastructure. From coordinating daily utility work to responding to emergency situations and fostering strong relationships with municipalities and regulatory bodies, you will play a pivotal role in keeping communities running safely and seamlessly.

Your leadership will drive performance, promote a culture of safety and accountability, and ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards. You will coach and develop your team, oversee productivity and training, and champion initiatives such as plant damage prevention, all while balancing operational goals, budgets, and service expectations.

What you will do:

  • Lead and develop a team of unionized employees to safely deliver day-to-day operations, maintenance, and emergency response for the gas distribution system.

  • Oversee field activities and contractor performance to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to required quality and service standards.

  • Prioritize safety for employees, customers, and the public while fostering a strong, proactive safety culture.

  • Coordinate with Work Management to plan, prioritize, and execute maintenance and service work within target timelines and budgets.

  • Manage escalated customer, contractor, and operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and a positive customer experience.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., regulators, municipalities, and emergency services) while supporting system integrity and community engagement initiatives.

Who You Are:

  • Related university degree and seven-plus (7+) years’ experience OR nine‐plus (9+) years of previous field operations experience, OR equivalent mix of formal education and experience.

  • High technical competency that can provide expertise to a team.

  • Oversees the development and implementation of technical solutions, ensuring coordination of resources and internal/external stakeholders.

  • Coaches, mentors and motivates to ensure objectives are translated to group’s activities.

  • Day to day leadership of a team and delivery of related services.

Working Conditions:

  • Primary working conditions are in a field environment.

  • Travel within a set geography is required on a daily basis.

  • Travel beyond a set geography is required occasionally.

  • On Call Rotation – evenings and weekends is required.

Salary: 

  • Ranges from $111,870 – $131,500 CAD for Ontario locations based upon candidate’s experience, skills, and internal equity.  

  • Applicable compensation policies and guidelines apply to internal candidates.
