Job Summary
The Team Lead – Mechanical Engineering will be responsible for leading a team supporting design validation, CAD/PLM data management, and engineering release processes for HVAC/Power products. This role involves driving technical excellence, ensuring data integrity across CAD and PLM systems, managing project delivery, and fostering continuous improvement in engineering processes and standards.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end validation and release of CAD models, drawings, and BOMs.
- Own quality and accuracy of engineering data across CAD (Creo), PLM (Agile/PD Cloud), and related systems.
- Drive adherence to design standards, modelling practices, and engineering guidelines.
- Review complex CAD assemblies, sheet metal designs, and ensure manufacturability readiness.
- Ensure validation of:
- CAD geometry, assembly fitment, and feature integrity
- Drawing quality (dimensions, GD&T, compliance)
- BOM structure and system alignment (CAD vs PLM vs ERP if applicable)
- Oversee correctness of:
- Material specifications
- Part descriptions, numbering, and classification
- Lifecycle, compliance, and attribute data in PLM
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and designers.
- Allocate resources and track workload to meet project timelines and deliverables.
- Drive accountability for quality and timely execution within the team.
- Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Quality teams to resolve design/data issues.
- Act as the primary point of contact for engineering data validation and release activities.
- Develop, standardize, and enforce SOPs for:
- CAD validation
- PLM data management
- Release workflows
- Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and drive corrective actions.
- Implement automation, checklists, and best practices to improve engineering productivity and quality.
- Promote a culture of zero-error release and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with organizational standards, industry practices, and audit requirements.
- Maintain high data accuracy and traceability across systems.
- Support audits, reviews, and quality initiatives.
Required Competencies Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 10–15 years of experience in mechanical design, CAD/PLM validation, or engineering data management.
- Strong experience in Creo (3D modelling, assemblies, detailing).
- Strong understanding of:
- CAD validation and modelling best practices
- GD&T, manufacturing readiness, and design standards
- BOM management and structure alignment
- Hands-on experience with PLM tools (Agile, PD Cloud, or equivalent).
- Exposure to HVAC/Power products will be an advantage.
- Strong team leadership and people management skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Effective communication and stakeholder management
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure
Skills Required
