Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of product distribution employees. Ensures all products are prepared, labeled, stored and shipped in accordance with standards established by FDA and Company SOP’s. Monitors daily inventory levels to ensure that adequate and accurate supplies are maintained.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides immediate supervision to team members which includes assigning duties, scheduling work hours, and approving/denying requests for time off to ensure staffing levels are adequate.

2. Ensures all component production, labeling, storage and shipping activities are in accordance with LifeShare Blood Centers policies and procedures, regulations of FDA and OSHA, and AABB standards.

3. Manages product inventories to ensure that hospital orders may be filled in a timely manner; ensures established minimum inventory levels are maintained at all times; manages product inventories to limit outdates.

4. Interacts with service hospital staff on a regular basis to ensure that good customer relations are maintained with blood banking personnel.

5. Manages personnel activities which includes interviewing, hiring, coaching, counseling, disciplinary action, and performance reviews.

6. Provides adequate training and in-service programs and maintains documentation for Hospital Services staff to maintain a high degree of proficiency.

7. Accountable for adherence to budgeted operating expenses, overtime and close supervision of time sheets to ensure adherence of scheduled work hours; may assist in the development of departmental budgets on an annual basis.

8. Meets and exceeds customer expectations and adheres to established quality practices; monitors and participates in QA activities; ensures QC procedures are followed and documented.

9. Ensures required and necessary maintenance is completed and documented on all departmental equipment and vehicles so that equipment and vehicles are in good mechanical condition and safe to operate at all times. Ensures all departmental work areas, equipment and vehicles are clean.

10. Attends meeting and seminars as necessary to maintain proficiency and knowledge of developments in Hospital Services field.

11. Drives a Company vehicle as necessary to make deliveries to service hospitals or other Centers.

12. Models LifeShare’s mission and values, integrating them into daily decisions, behaviors and actions.

13. Promotes cooperation and communication within a team to achieve Company and departmental goals and deliverables.

14. Completes other assignments and duties as may be assigned. 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:   

  1. Associate’s degree in related field, and
  2. At least three (3) years of related experience, including supervisory experience, or at least six (6) years as a Sr. Component Tech; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the duties of the job.
  3. Must be familiar with or demonstrate ability to learn all FDA regulations governing blood banking, AABB standards, OSHA regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  4. Must demonstrate a positive attitude toward technicians and other staff members, acting in a highly professional manner at all times.
  5. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of donor information at all times.
  6. Ability to learn and utilize product inventory tracking system.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT:

  1. Must be able to lift and operate equipment, such as a centrifuge, hematron, containers of blood bags and related supplies, weighing up to 40 lbs., unassisted.  
  2. Must be able to perform duties which require standing or bending for long periods of time without relief.
  3. Must be able to work irregular hours, often in excess of 8 hours per day, and weekends and holidays; requires on call duty for responding to emergencies.
  4. Must be able to work with needles, scissors, blood bags, human blood and blood processing equipment and work in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Work involves potential exposure to infectious diseases from blood and blood products.
  6. Requires operation of a Company vehicle for blood transport; must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable by our commercial auto insurance carrier.
