Job Description

Supervises the Configuration Services Testing & Validation team.  Responsible for ensuring that Configuration Services meets or exceeds established standards of quality, including reliability, usability, and performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervises the Testing & Validation Analyst team in the execution of their responsibilities to ensure fully validated, accurate configuration in support of development, implementation, and maintenance of business.  Accomplishes results by coaching and developing employees, and planning, assigning and monitoring work and by implementing and adhering to productivity standards. 
  • Responsible for interviewing and recommending candidates for hire, evaluating performance, and enforcing departmental guidelines, policies, and performance standards.  Monitors adherence to company guidelines and policies, administers employee corrective action, and makes termination recommendations.  Models and cultivates staff behaviors that achieve business success, including leadership skills, collaboration, accountability, and ownership. Ensures that staff members are aware of business plan objectives, individual accountabilities, and the competencies critical to successful job performance.
  • Drives continuous quality improvement initiatives by defining best practices for the validation of design objectives, processes and procedures including data sets, test scenarios, expected results and acceptance criteria for projects and tasks.
  • Performs complex analysis of business systems and requirements in order to develop appropriate test plans to ensure quality standards are met. 
  • Develops requirements, analyzes and develops workflows and data logic flows outlining business actions and/or processes.
  • Designs, develops, deploys and maintains quality based control systems and procedural guides to ensure the staging of defect free configuration projects.
  • Provides day-to-day leadership and direction to provide exceptional service to clients, including administering policies, business processes, quality standards, measurement criteria, and daily task management of testing and validation requests.
  • Ensures that deliverables are on time, within budget, and meet the quality levels expected by MedImpact's internal and external customers. Ensures that Configuration Services, on behalf of MedImpact, is meeting service agreement requirements. 
  • Monitors client service continuum including proactive and reactive components. Resolves escalated issues, while ensuring ongoing issues are resolved expeditiously.
  • Collaborates with business partners to validate the accuracy of configuration in support of maintenance of business, new client implementations and special projects.
  • Helps to define the requirements for and promote system enhancements, including changes to POS logic, automated benefits processes and SalesForce enhancements.  Provides alternative solutions for more sustainable standard solutions and practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities  

                                                               

Supervise assigned staff in the segment area. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supports and enforces all company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner, taking corrective action whenever necessary.

Client Responsibilities

This is an internal and external client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening/verbal/written).  One must be able to; manage difficult or emotional client situations; Respond promptly to client needs; Solicit client feedback to improve service; Respond to requests for service and assistance from clients; Meet commitments to clients.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience   

                                                 

Bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) plus years’ related experience, two (2) of which should be testing and validation experience required in Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), Pharmacy, or Managed Healthcare; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience with pharmacy or medical claims analysis required.  A minimum of one (1) year of previous experience supervising a staff with responsibility for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems preferred. 3 years of MedImpact experience plus an appropriate external leadership training program and internal mentorship with a seasoned leader (Mgr+) B13 that must completed within 12 months in new position may substitute for the supervisory experience requirement.

Computer Skills

Advanced knowledge of MS Office / Word, Excel, Access, Project, and Outlook. Experienced user of multiple business software applications and working knowledge of key technical applications such as SQL, Oracle based platforms, and Golden 32.  Experience in SQL queries and writing test plans/ cases. Demonstrated ability to understand complex business systems with hierarchical order of data processing and program logic flows based on business rules.

Great technical depth and knowledge of Quality Assurance methodologies and practical application.  Ability to research, assess, audit, and apply information to practices and standards. Strong analytical and problem solving ability and in-depth understanding of PBM regulations and related CMS guidance. Requires proven leadership skills, an ability to lead and drive projects and represent the team and or manager when called upon as a Subject Matter Expert.

Excellent skills in written and oral communication; organization/prioritization; decision-making; problem analysis and resolution; negotiation; team building; and leadership. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality using, tact, discretion, and professionalism in all aspects of the job.  Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills.

Reasoning Ability                                            

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Mathematical Skills                                                      

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to calculate and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Language Skills                                               

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Work Location

This position works on-site at the San Diego Headquarters or other company location (or from a remote location with management approval based on business requirements). Must provide adequate support to internal clients; be available for regular interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as be available to facilitate effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders.

Working Hours

This is an exempt level position requiring one to work the hours needed to get the job done.  Therefore, one must have the flexibility to work beyond traditional hours and be able to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required.  This may be changed from time to time to meet the needs of the business.  Typical core business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Travel  

This position may require domestic travel of up to 10% of the time.  Attendance maybe also be required at various local training sessions and/or meetings.
