Role Summary:
The Cellar Supervisor at Four Peaks Brewing Company is responsible for maintaining a strong teamwork environment emphasizing communication, innovation, and efficiency. While certain aspects of the position are technical in nature, the more critical functions are the leadership, training, and performance management. In this role, you'll work closely with the Cellar – typically the on-shift Filter Brewer and Cellar - team to ensure the highest quality and efficient cellaring/filtering of beer while also being responsible for the day-to-day management of the employees, as well as the long-term growth of employees. This role also contributes to filter/cellaring operations. This is a leadership position, requiring broad thinking, innovative effort and an imagination when it comes to problem solving and is integral to the mission of Four Peaks.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains a culture of safety within the cellar area and is responsible for team members’ safety.
Reports workers’ compensation claims when necessary.
Ensures training participation for all cold side employees.
Alerts the Brewing Manager of large-scale concerns and helps troubleshoot solutions.
Communicates regularly with brewing hot/cold side employees and maintains a sense of organizational cohesiveness.
Lead quality assurance efforts within the cellar and filtration areas, ensuring optimal yeast health, microbiological integrity, specification compliance, timely dry hopping, and adherence to fermentation vessel sanitation standards.
Assists in the creation of standard operating procedures/guidelines and communicates such rules to staff.
Performance manages staff as appropriate, including discipline and evaluations.
Coaches and develops Filter/Cellar staff.
Communicates with brewing staff daily for updates.
Guarantees the daily start-up and cleanup procedures on filter/cellar stations take place.
Works with maintenance employees/personnel to assist with equipment problems and troubleshooting.
May perform daily basic maintenance in filter/cellar.
Minimizes waste by monitoring and controlling process and equipment performance.
Manages employee overtime, and scheduling.
Works with staff to ensure a clean and tidy working environment.
Develop, coordinate, and oversee training programs for fermentation cellar, brite cellar, and filtration operations, ensuring employees are fully trained, proficient, and consistently execute processes in accordance with brewery quality and safety standards.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
High school education or equivalent required.
Must be 21-years of age.
Thorough knowledge of brewing/cellaring operations and its comprehensive processes.
5-years experience in a production brewing environment.
Microsoft Office Suite experience.
Management/supervision experience preferred.
Ability to obtain forklift certification.
High level of professionalism.
Ability to identify problems, and present solutions autonomously.
Ability to lead and motivate a crew of cellar employees to accomplish any task.
Ability to instill high level of morale.
Willingness to make difficult or unpopular decisions when necessary.
Familiarity with packaging operations.
General knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions associated with work.
Require the ability to lift and carry up to 55+ lbs regularly, with standing for extended periods
Ability to multi-task effectively.
