Department: Accounts Payable - 132
Primary Purpose:
The Supervisor, Accounts Payable supervises the ARUP Accounts Payable process; ensures that all payments are timely, accurate, and discharged in a manner consistent with corporate policies and procedures. Also supervises the clerical employees within the department, ensuring their productivity.

Essential Functions:
Ensure that payments are processed accurately and timely.
Items invoiced have been received in good order
Invoices are priced and calculated correctly
Payments are properly authorized and coded
Pay obligations within established deadlines
Research and resolve unsettled issues with vendors and ARUP departments
Supervision and staffing of Account Payable function.
Implement approved policies and procedures and monitor conformance
Conduct periodic performance evaluations for each subordinate
Train new employees/provide continuing instruction to experienced employees
Hire, discipline, motivate, and terminate employees as appropriate
Maintain current Job Description/Primary Purposes
Reporting and reconciling
Reconcile payables detail to the general ledger
Create and review periodic reports for reasonableness
Submit accurate reports to management
Maintain organized, up-to-date vendor files, check registers
Timely transmission of 1099s and property tax renditions
Maintain and reconcile the prepaid account on a monthly basis
Planning and budget
Propose a departmental budget and submit it to the Controller
Monitor and manage departmental expenses in conformance to the approved budget
Explain/justify budget variances as required by company policy
Other duties as assigned.
Physical and Other Requirements:
Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Communicate: Frequently communicate with others.
PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.
ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.
Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling
Qualifications Education Required High School Diploma or Equivalent or better. Preferred Bachelor's Degree or better. Skills Required
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Four years of accounting experience (required if only HS diploma)
- Five years of experience in payment processing with demonstrated progressive competence
- Ability to use personal protective equipment and work in a biohazard laboratory environment per CDC and OSHA
- Bachelor's Degree
- Two years of business management education at the college level with training in finance, accounting, general management, and computer science
- Two years of supervisory experience
