DESCRIPTION:
Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where you'll lead accounting operations and contribute to financial excellence. As an Accounting Supervisor, you'll oversee daily financial activities, ensure accurate reporting, and develop a team. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain strong internal controls while supporting process improvements through our Practical Process Improvement (PPI) initiatives. Main Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of Record to Report (Intercompany), being responsible for the operational performance of the members of the department, through the strategic orientation and direction of the functions.
- Ensure compliance with departmental and organizational objectives successfully, adhering to established policies and processes.
- Perform administrative tasks related to the personnel in charge in accordance with the established policies and procedures, such as assistance control, vacation, and performance plans, following the company policies.
- Carry out development conversations and follow up with the personnel in charge in accordance with the established policies.
- Schedule recurring meetings with the supervisors, in order to review metrics, KPIs and analyze the results of the month-end, as well as issues related to the staff and/or updates on corporate processes and policies.
- Keep track of all accounting activities in the month-end close and ensure they are completed in the stipulated time.
- Find opportunities for continuous improvement of processes and propose innovative solutions for the Record to Report department to operate efficiently and profitably.
- Provide support in internal and external audits process, in SOX compliance initiatives, maintaining the controls of the complete and correct operating procedures.
- Develop strategies to increase the level of engagement and commitment of employees through motivation, and the opportunities offered by Thermo Fisher Scientific.
- Strategically determine the need for adequate personnel for the operation to flow optimally and support the hiring process according to these needs.
- Implement methods to standardize operations, through the creation of performance metrics that seek to ensure that general accounting tasks are accomplished with precision, quality, and success.
- Participate in strategies at the organizational level that promotes the continuous improvement of the Shared Service Center.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in accounting, with minimum 1-2 years in a team lead role
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred
- • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SOX requirements, and financial reporting processes
- Strong proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with financial tools like Blackline, Hyperion preferred
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience developing and mentoring teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively across all organizational levels
- Experience in shared services or large multinational organizations preferred
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a professional environment
- Process improvement mindset with ability to identify and implement efficiencies
- English language proficiency required, additional languages beneficial
- Demonstrated success maintaining strong internal controls and SOX compliance
- Manageable to shift schedule change as this will be for Global IC team (APAC, EMEA, NA)
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with 5 years' accounting experience
- Minimum 1-2 years in a team lead or supervisory role
