The Opportunity:

Scholastic Book Fairs is seeking a Summer Intern to join the Tangerine Press Art Department! We’ll provide an opportunity to learn about the publishing industry and give one individual a peek at what goes into working for Scholastic Book Fairs! A design intern working with Tangerine Press will work closely with the art director and seasoned design team, and will gain professional experience working in a specialty art department that creates books, stationery, and school supplies!

Program Dates: June 9, 2025 to August 1, 2025

Location: REMOTE, paid internship opportunity, with the Tangerine Press Art Dept located in Florida. A company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program.

Weekly schedule: Monday-Thursday from 9-5pm

Pay rate: $18.00

  

Your Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with and assist the Art Department on several different phases of book and product creation, and its development. Daily tasks will include basic file set-up and layout creation, navigating the review process, handling text and design corrections, digital file archival support, and some creative design work.

  • Participation in weekly production meetings with the larger team, smaller staff meetings, and virtual training sessions with the Art Department members, so you can get to know the team!

Who you are:

  • Current undergrad student approaching graduation, recent graduate, or workforce ready

  • Interested in exploring a career in book publishing and graphic design

  • Interested in print production and digital assets

  • Knowledge or interest in photo retouching

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and contribute creatively

Qualifications

Required Skills / Knowledge:

  • Solid knowledge and experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)

  • Basic knowledge of graphic design fundamentals such as layout, typography and color theory

  • Portfolio of graphic design work

  • Enthusiasm for children’s books and/or product development
