Job Summary

This is a 10 week summer internship with Memorial Hermann Health System. To be considered, applicants must be entering their junior or senior year of a Bachelor's program or in a Master's program with their major in Healthcare Administration, Business or a related degree . This internship will begin June 2nd and wrap up late July/early August. Students will be paid $20/hour if in a Bachelor’s program and $21.50 if in a Master's program. Candidates must be available for the full internship which is 40 hours each week. During this internship, students will also participate in weekly learning sessions presented by MHHS leadership to get a better understanding of the healthcare industry.
Join our Communications team this summer and gain hands-on experience working on impactful projects that showcase your creativity and communication skills. You’ll support crisis communications by crafting press releases and media pitches, assist with media shoots, and create engaging content for internal channels like newsletters and the intranet. You’ll also play a role in planning corporate events and identifying ways to streamline our communication processes. This internship offers a unique chance to explore healthcare operations while contributing to meaningful projects that make a difference.Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Current students in an accredited college, university or institute of higher learning working on or recently completed their undergraduate degree.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be detailed oriented, organized and have multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong computer software skills – Word processing, spreadsheets, database management and presentation.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Performs a variety of entry-level administrative staff duties related to areas such as administrative regulations, policies, processes, procedures, systems, reports, surveys, and forms, while learning the fundamental of the business acumen.
  • Participates in analytic studies by conducting routine research, identifying samples, and assembling and compiling data in well defined areas related to administrative regulations, policies, procedures, systems, methods, reports, surveys, and forms.
  • Applies basic statistical and management analysis techniques or, with detailed instructions, advanced statistical and management techniques in analyzing data.
  • Assists in writing instructions, procedures, guides, and manuals to describe and improve administrative, technological, and operational methods and systems.
  • Researches problems, discrepancies, and responds to routine inquiries related to the business, technological, and operational activities of the assigned department.
  • Prepares reports, presentations, operational documents, and correspondence containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content related to business, technological, and operational activities subject to review and editing by higher-level staff members.
  • May perform a wide variety of paraprofessional, technical, and clerical tasks during peak workload periods or in the absence of assigned staff.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
