Are you ready to gain hands-on experience with an industry-leading real estate company? Essex Property Trust, an S&P 500 real estate investment trust (REIT), invites highly motivated college students to join our 8- to 10-week, paid summer internship program in Operations Support Services. This is your chance to work on meaningful projects that impact real-world business decisions while developing valuable skills in the dynamic world of real estate operations.
This is a full-time internship, Monday through Friday, with a pay rate of $26.00 per hour.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As an Operations Support Service Intern, you’ll collaborate with multiple departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of operational support functions within a top-tier real estate company. You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Analyze Financial Data – Use spreadsheets and reporting tools to analyze audit workbooks and identify key trends.
- Prepare Supporting Schedules – Assist in compiling documentation for audits, including reconciling accounts and verifying transactions.
- Assist with Analytical Procedures – Conduct basic analytical reviews of financial and operational data, identifying unusual fluctuations and patterns.
- Support Property Operations – Provide tactical property support, helping Community Management Teams align with corporate objectives.
- Process Resident Payments – Assist with payment processing, including handling NSF payments and communicating with residents regarding delinquencies.
- Administrative Support – Update hiring reports, schedule candidate interviews, and enter tasks into the company’s CRM system.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Education – You must be enrolled in a four-year accredited undergraduate program, majoring in Business, Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or related field. Rising juniors (Class of 2027) and seniors (Class of 2026) are encouraged to apply.
- Skills & Attributes – Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills are a must! You should be detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal abilities.
- Work Environment – This is a hybrid role, requiring you to be in our Irvine office three days a week (Monday – Wednesday).

The salary range for this position is $20.00 - $27.40 per hour. New hires generally start between $20.00 - $23.08 per hour. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, including but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience; internal equity; and other business and organizational needs.
