The Southwest Airlines’ Sales Analystics Intern may be asked to support a variety of projects within the Southwest Business Analytics Team:  

  • Sales Analytics Team: This Team helps drive revenue growth by turning data into meaningful business insights. Interns supporting this Team will gain hands-on experience assisting Account Managers through data analysis, reporting, and business insights, including building dashboards, identifying trends and opportunities, and delivering recommendations that support business decisions. They'll develop skills in data analysis, reporting, data quality management, CRM systems such as Salesforce, and business storytelling while partnering with Account Managers and other Teams to support Southwest Business initiatives.

Additional Details 

  • Join Southwest as a Summer 2027 Intern, with a 12-week internship lasting from May 18 – August 8, 2027.
  • Pay of $22-$26 per hour, corresponding with progress toward degree.
  • Stipends may be offered based on eligibility and program criteria.

Due to the nature of this role, you would be required to work from our Dallas, TX headquarters facility during business hours (2702 Love Field Drive).
  • Dedicate 40 hours each week (maximum of 8 hours per day) to your internship responsibilities and tasks.
  • Receive free, unlimited space available travel privileges for yourself (taxes and fees may apply on international travel).
  • Interns will be provided any required equipment, such as a laptop, for the internship.
  • U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. required and no current or future work authorization sponsorship available.

Duties and Responsibilities  

The duties and responsibilities of the Sales Analytics Intern may include, but are not limited to:    

  • Generate reports, dashboards, and presentations that highlight key performance indicators (KPIs), revenue drivers, and account performance metrics. 
  • Provide analytics and CRM support for sales teams, including reporting customer data analysis, and support for business initiatives inquiries.  
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret data from Salesforce, Southwest databases, and other sources to identify trends, opportunities, and actionable business insights. 
  • Research, validate, and maintain data integrity by reviewing internal and third-party data sources and ensuring information accuracy.  
  • Prepare, scrub, and format data for reporting and system compatibility while supporting ongoing data maintenance activities.  
  • Utilize Salesforce to update account information, manage data uploads, track activities, and support Account Manager requests. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities   

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills including PivotTables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis, and visualization.  
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capability to collect, clean, organize, and interpret data from multiple sources.  
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create presentations and communicate insights to technical and non-technical audiences.  
  • Experience or familiarity with Salesforce and CRM systems, including updating records, managing data, and supporting reporting activities.  
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on data accuracy, integrity, and process improvement.  
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, support Account Manager needs, and complete assignments in a fast-paced environment. 

  

Education   

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.   
  • Progress toward a degree, major, or minor Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Finance, Economics, Management Information Systems, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Administration, Marketing, Professional Sales, or similar degree.  
  • Progress towards a 4-year undergraduate degree preferred.   
  • To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (as defined by your   university) at the time of application and during the internship.   
  • At least 3 semesters remaining at the time the internship ends is preferred.  
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application.   

   

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.   
  • You must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number to complete the full hiring process.   

  

Experience  

  • Preferred: Experience with forecasting software and models.  
  • Preferred: Programming knowledge in SQL, VBA, or other database management tools.  
  • Preferred: Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).  
  • Preferred: Exposure to data cleansing and transformation tools (e.g., Alteryx).  
  • Preferred: Knowledge of data science project lifecycle and stakeholder engagement.  
  • Preferred: Ability to evaluate data science, machine learning, AI, or optimization techniques for business problems.  
  • Preferred: Basic understanding of financial concepts and principles.  
  • Preferred: Project management experience.  
  • Preferred: Experience with Salesforce or CRM tools.
