The Southwest Airlines’ Revenue Management Intern may be asked to support a variety of projects within the Planning & Initiatives Team:  

  • Planning & Initiatives: Southwest Airlines Revenue Management maximizes revenue by analyzing Customer booking and travel behavior, forecasting demand, and optimizing Revenue by selling the right amount of seats at various price points. The Planning & Initiatives team leads various projects within Revenue Management and works with other Commercial departments to ensure we’re aligned and prepared to support their projects. During the course of the internship, projects will include but are not limited to: supporting current RM and Commercial objectives, Market Research, and Market Pricing Performance and Recommendation. You may be assigned additional ad hoc projects. Use of tools will include Microsoft Suite, QuickBase, DiioMi, Tableau. 

 

Additional Details  

  • Join Southwest as a Summer 2027 Intern, with a 12-week internship lasting from May 18 – August 8, 2027.  
  • Pay of $21-$24 per hour, corresponding with progress toward degree.   
  • Stipends may be offered based on eligibility and program criteria.

Due to the nature of this role, you would be required to work from our Dallas, TX headquarters facility during business hours (2702 Love Field Drive).  
  • Dedicate 40 hours each week (maximum of 8 hours per day) to your internship responsibilities and tasks.   
  • Receive free, unlimited space available travel privileges for yourself (taxes and fees may apply on international travel).   
  • Interns will be provided any required equipment, such as a laptop, for the internship  
  • U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. required and no current or future work authorization sponsorship available.

 Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required  
  • Must be at least 18 years of age  
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986  
  • You must have a valid U.S. Social Security Number to complete the full hiring process  
  • This position requires authorization to work in the United States as a permanent employee without sponsorship now or in the future 

 

Education

  • Progress towards degree, major, or minor in Aviation, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Math, Statistics, Supply Chain, Marketing or Business-related field OR similar degree  
  • Progress towards a 4-year undergraduate degree preferred  
  • To be eligible, you must be currently enrolled as a full-time student (as defined by your university) at the time of application and during the internship  
  • 1-2 semesters remaining at the time the internship ends is preferred  
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA at the time of application 

 

Experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  
  • Proficiency in Excel 's data manipulation functions (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, graphing, etc.) is strongly preferred.  
  • Able to build and deliver PowerPoint presentations.  
  • Able to effectively communicate in writing the results of their work.  
  • Classroom and/or industry experience with projects, project management methodologies, and/ or project management software preferred.

  • Problem solving and analytical background required.  
  • Basic understanding of root cause and/or trend analysis.  
  • Ability to make decisions in an ambiguous environment.  
  • Ability to stay organized, manage multiple and concurrent complex assignments and analyses in a fast-paced environment with little supervision.
