While supporting Military Engine programs, our program seeks to help you: develop an understanding of the aerospace industry; learn about our company and its operations; and appreciate how each discipline and department’s contribution to the success of our products and customer partnerships. While you benefit from on-the-job training and practical experience, you are expected to contribute fresh ideas and participate as a productive member of the department. Your growth as a professional and the difference you make will be on display every day. We're seeking law students to support our Legal Department this summer. The internship will provide candidates with valuable experience working on important legal and contractual issues in a world class, dynamic, full-service legal environment. The position involves working directly with attorneys, internal clients, and potential interaction with customers, suppliers, and service providers. 

What You Will Do

  • Advise on and support the negotiation of contract terms based on business requirements and risk considerations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement legal risk mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct research and review newly promulgated federal acquisition rules.
  • Assist with regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Perform project management activities, including:
    • Tracking deliverables.
    • Creating status reports.
    • Monitoring the successful achievement of project goals.
  • Develop internal reference guides that outline key requirements of significant compliance frameworks relevant to the business.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Currently enrolled in a law degree program
  • Completion of at least one year of full-time law school or equivalent prior to starting the internship.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (this position may require access to systems/tools restricted to individuals who possess U.S. citizenship).

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven track record of collaboration, flexibility, innovation, and initiative.
  • Strong interest in the study and application of law, with substantive knowledge of legal issues.
  • Some prior experience working with a legal department or law firm.
  • A strong understanding of our work history in business or aerospace.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). If you live within a reasonable commute of an RTX site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role.

As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
