SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has the goal of providing the opportunity to acquire practical experience through direct exposure to the related business line(s) and to develop the next generation of diverse business professionals. Your primary project will be building new features for this application, which is built in R Shiny and powered by Google BigQuery. You will work with a massive, 7-year longitudinal dataset (10M+ members) to help our users find opportunistic populations for health interventions. This involves everything from building interactive data visualizations in Shiny, to developing data transformation pipelines in Dataform, to integrating predictive models and AI-driven insights directly into the user interface.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree.
Actively pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong proficiency in R, with hands-on experience building applications in R Shiny (please provide a link to a portfolio or a project on GitHub if possible).
- Deep experience with the Tidyverse ecosystem (dplyr, ggplot2, etc.).
- Strong understanding of SQL and experience querying large, complex datasets.
- Familiarity with statistical concepts and the fundamentals of predictive modeling.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team.
- Prior experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), especially BigQuery.
- Familiarity with data transformation tools like Dataform or dbt.
- Knowledge of front-end web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to create custom Shiny UIs.
- A strong interest in healthcare, population health, or epidemiology.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Develop, test, and deploy new features and modules within our R Shiny application (e.g., new filtering components, interactive statistical model outputs, and descriptive profile visualizations).
2. Write clean, efficient, and scalable SQL queries in Google BigQuery to power the application.
3.Model and transform complex healthcare data using Dataform, building the robust data pipelines that feed the application..
4. Partner with data engineers and product owners to understand user needs and translate them into technical requirements and new application features.
5. As specifically requested by management, conducts research and reporting inclusive of recommendations or alternative proposals for action.
6. Undertake related studies or enrichment programs as appropriate to the specific objectives of the operating unit.
7. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
