onsemi is seeking a self-driven and motivated professional to join the Protection and Signal Division as Applications Engineer Intern in Scottsdale, Arizona. As an Applications Engineer Intern, you will have opportunities to enhance your understanding of Solid State Electronic Devices, develop printed circuit boards, use state of the art tools to perform simulations, strengthen your hands on experience in device and system level characterization, and work with various teams including marketing, design, characterization and product engineers to develop highly differentiated and innovative products for the industrial, mobile, cloud, telecom and other market segments.
The Protection and Signal Division is a recognized leader in its target markets with an exciting strategy and roadmaps. Key growth-engines are ESD/surge protection diodes, RF discretes, and standard and high-performance transistors, among other technologies.
ResponsibilitiesPerformance Objectives
- Develop product demonstrations to show competitive advantage of Protection and Small Signal products
- Carry out and document product teardowns
- Assist with new product characterization and datasheet generation
- Perform product evaluations on demand for specific customer applications
- Design PCBs for evaluation boards, demonstration boards, and test boards.
- Develop circuit simulations for analog systems using Cadence, Spice, ADS, etc
- Perform product evaluation for specific customer applications
- Prepare evaluation reports to be presented to customers
- Perform competitive and product portfolio analysis
Requirements
- Solid understanding of discrete electronic components such as diodes, BJTs and FETs
- Experience with electrical characteristics of communication protocols such as USB, HDMI, MIPI and Wi-Fi desired
- Circuit simulation experience preferred
- Experience with lab equipment -Oscilloscopes, DMMs, Curve Tracers, and Network Analyzers- desired
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to multi-task
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
