Stellantis is seeking a Subsystem Technical Lead (SSTL) for Steering and Brakes. SSTL will lead Design Release Engineers (DREs) and cross-functional support teams to drive component development from sourcing through industrialization. This role will interface with the Chief Vehicle Engineer, Program Managers, and Subsystem Technical Managers (SSTMs) to ensure the timely delivery of components to the assembly plant through robust planning, high quality, and execution excellence.
The SSTL will be responsible for the team's on-time delivery at each program milestone, from concept through vehicle launch, including presenting progress updates to management and senior leadership. Key performance indicators (KPIs), along with cost, weight, and investment (C/W/I) metrics, will be used to monitor program success. Technical oversight responsibilities include component design (FMEA), analysis (CAE), vehicle packaging (NX), model and drawing integrity (Teamcenter), Product Assurance Plan (PAP), component validation (DVP&R), change management (CN), engineering bill of material management (EBOM/CODEP), build support, issue management (GIMS/Sirius), fastener joint design, and assembly torque development. The SSTL will also be required to support pre-production and production builds on-site at domestic and international assembly plants, based on program needs.
For serial-life programs, SSTL will be responsible for leading serial-life quality and warranty activities, including addressing any IQS concerns related to the programs they support. SSTL will also work closely with the SSTM to provide C/W/I and timing inputs for program bulletins and partner with the core team to implement approved changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive engineering changes (Change Notices/Common Change Documents).
- Author deviations (IAA) and manage Plant Evaluation Runs (PER).
- Lead the design, development, and validation of hardware and associated software components.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to meet program and production timelines.
- Influence and align internal stakeholders to gain approval for design and process changes.
- Guide Design Release Engineers through the industrialization process.
This position requires strong matrix leadership skills to effectively lead design and development engineers in achieving program objectives. SSTL will also work closely with, and take directions from, the Subsystem Technical Manager (SSTM). Travel may be required to support supplier, engineering, and plant activities.

Stellantis Compensation & Benefits Highlights
The following summarizes recurring compensation and benefits themes identified from responses generated by popular LLMs to common candidate questions about Stellantis and has not been reviewed or approved by Stellantis.
-
Pay Growth & Progression — Contract-driven increases lifted hourly wages roughly 25% over 4.5 years and restored cost-of-living adjustments, pushing top rates near $42 per hour by the end of the agreement. Union hourly positions appear to have benefited most since the 2023 deal.
-
Affordable Benefits — UAW-represented hourly workers pay no premiums and about 3% of total healthcare costs while receiving comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and wellness coverage. This creates materially lower out-of-pocket costs for represented hourly roles.
-
Retirement Support — Post-2007 hourly hires receive a 10% employer 401(k) contribution and legacy workers saw defined-benefit improvements with retiree bonuses. Salaried roles also cite a 401(k) with employer match and contribution up to a maximum of 8%.
