Substation Drafter/Designer

We’re looking for a Substation Drafter/Design to join our Power Delivery team at our Overland Park location (in office). This individual will assist with the design primarily for electric substation design development.

Responsibilities:

• Provide drafting support to engineers and designers on Power Delivery related projects, primarily focused on the development of substation physical and electrical drawing creation.
• Develop AutoCAD drawings that include general arrangement, elevation, details, BOM, one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, etc.
• Incorporate red line changes in existing drawings, as directed by designers and engineers.
• Set up and compile drawing packages that will ultimately be issued to clients.
• Set up and utilize BlueBeam Revu Sessions and Projects to facilitate the review/markup of drawing sets for drawing package development.
• Effectively communicate and collaborate with other disciplines within the company including structural, civil, survey, etc.
• Assist the project team in meeting client expectations and schedules.

Requirements:

• Associates degree in drafting or related area.
• 2+ years of experience in substation physical and electrical design.
• Proficient in AutoCAD.
• Experience with 3D drafting/design is preferred (Civil 3D, Revit, Inventor, etc.).
  
• Able to recognize, understand and develop diagrams using electrical and part symbols, reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams as well as substation physical, civil and structural drawings.
• Experience working with scaled drawings.
  
• Understand coordinate systems and be able to orient AutoCAD drawing components in real-world coordinates and working with UCS.
• Attention to detail and adherence to drawing standards including client specific standards, practices, and procedures.
  
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Desire to be part of a team-oriented culture.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Compliance with MKEC and client drug/alcohol and safety programs.
