We’re looking for our next Subsidence Consultant: someone that has the technical and insurance knowledge to manage a caseload of domestic and commercial subsidence claims from start to finish or a desire to develop into this role with support under our award winning SMART training programme.

Responsibilities

For Subsidence Consultants

Within in this field based role, you’ll attend on visits from claimants who have reported signs of Subsidence.  The insurance claims will be around 60% domestic and 40 % commercial up to 100K in value.


You’ll be supported by our internal teams and have a site pack containing high level details of the claim, policy information and any specific details. 


Your expertise will be to survey the property, investigate the damage and diagnose the cause of movement. You’ll be required to report on all specific details, feedback back to our Subsidence teams within specific timeframes to enable the claim to be bought to swift settlement as soon as possible.

For Development Consultants

The role includes a full training programme taking in all aspects of the job from building construction and defects diagnosis through to insurance principals and policy liability matters. 

As your training progresses, you’ll be able to diagnose damage through either site visits or virtual visits / desktop assessments, all with backup support from your appointed mentors.  

You’ll prepare reports for our clients relating to the property damage and insurance related matters, and direct the necessary investigations in order to confirm causation of damage and the necessary repairs. 

You’ll also be supported by our internal training team and technical mentors.

Full support and funding is also provided for you to achieve Chartered membership of an appropriate institution such as CIOB or RICS.  Support is also provided for you to gain insurance qualifications from Cert CII / Cert CILA all the way up to Chartered status (ACILA or ACII).

Qualifications

For Subsidence Consultants

We’re looking for an experienced Surveyor, ideally specialising in Subsidence. You’ll be a technical expert, a go to person who enjoys problem solving technical problems with buildings and structures. 

You’ll also have/be:

Essential:

  • Experienced in dealing with the investigation and repair of damaged buildings, including the diagnosis and mitigation of subsidence movement.
  • Ideally chartered or approaching chartered status with a relevant institution: ICE, IStructE, RICS, CIOB
  • Experience of insurance claims handling is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
  • Able to demonstrate a decisive approach
  • Computer literate with most Microsoft packages
  • Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of domestic construction
  • Knowledgeable with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
  • Full UK Driving License
  • The role will be Home based
  • The role will encompass Subsidence Field Operations nationwide.
  • The role will require regular UK travel, and occasional overnight stays - however more frequent travel and regular overnight stays may be required during peak demand

For Development Consultants

We’re looking for someone with a relevant construction qualification such as Building Surveying, Construction Management, Structural Engineering, ideally (but not necessarily) at degree level. Alternatively, someone with demonstrable experience within the insurance industry will also be considered for the role. You’ll also have/be:  

Essential:

•              A desire to learn about construction and insurance. 

•              Commitment to progress with your professional qualifications up to Chartered status. 

•              Able to demonstrate a decisive and ‘can do’ approach. 

•              Computer literate with most Microsoft packages. 

•              Full UK Driving License.
