We are looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Subsea team, based in India working closely with subsea operators across the region. This is a senior, customer‑facing role combining deep technical expertise with commercial awareness, supporting pre‑sales, solution design, and long‑term customer partnerships.
You will work alongside Account Management, Sales, Product Management, and R&D to design and position end‑to‑end subsea optical solutions, while feeding real customer insight back into Nokia’s product and technology roadmap.
Responsibilities- Act as the lead technical authority for Nokia’s subsea optical solutions across India, with a strong focus on large-scale subsea operators
- Provide pre‑sales technical support, including solution architecture, network design, bills of material, and technical proposals
- Engage directly with customers to analyse network requirements, use cases, and growth plans, and translate these into robust, scalable solutions
- Design and present subsea transmission solutions, including SLTE, open line systems, and related optical transport technologies
- Support RFP/RFQ responses, technical clarifications, and customer workshops
- Partner with Sales and Project teams through the full lifecycle—from opportunity qualification to contract closure and early delivery phases
- Act as a trusted technical advisor for customers, developing long‑term relationships built on credibility and insight
- Provide structured customer and market feedback to Product Management, influencing future features, architectures, and roadmaps
- Contribute to technical marketing activities such as whitepapers, solution positioning, and conference or customer presentations
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline
- Strong hands‑on experience in submarine optical networks, including SLTE and subsea system design
- Solid understanding of optical networking technologies (DWDM, ROADM, OTN); knowledge of IP/Ethernet and data‑center connectivity is an advantage
- Experience working directly with large-scale international network operators
- Proven background in technical pre‑sales, solutions architecture, or systems engineering roles
- Experience responding to RFPs/RFQs and building technical/commercial proposals
- Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills
- Comfortable operating independently in a senior, customer‑facing role
- Fluency in English; additional regional languages are a plus
- Willingness to travel across the India region as required
