Job Description:
In this position as a Senior Accountant, you will provide technical leadership, strategic guidance, and hands-on expertise supporting complex Department of Defense (DoD) financial operations. You will lead high-visibility initiatives focused on general fund accounting, financial reporting, and audit readiness. In this position, you will also:
- Lead and execute complex financial management projects, coordinating cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Define and analyze complex financial and operational challenges, develop solutions, and implement corrective action plans
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with Army, DFAS, OSD, OMB, and other stakeholders
- Facilitate cross-functional working groups to enable informed decision-making
- Support audit readiness efforts and remediation activities to resolve audit findings
- Contribute to client deliverables by providing strategic insights and integrated business solutions
- Analyze and reconcile journal vouchers, trial balance data, review and recommend internal controls, and validate other financial data
- Represent the organization through participation in conferences, peer reviews, and professional publications
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience supporting DoD general fund operations, accounting, and budgeting.
- 1+ year of experience working with federal accounting standards including SFFAS, OMB Circular A-11, and OMB Circular A-136.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with DDRS or other financial reporting systems that feed into DDRS.
- Experience performing advanced financial statement analysis and compilation within DoD environments.
- Ability to analyze financial data from source systems and identify trends, discrepancies, and risks.
- Experience supporting audit activities, including remediation and prevention of audit findings.
- Strong experience reviewing journal vouchers, performing root cause analysis, and improving internal controls.
- Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with federal financial management regulations and reporting standards.
- An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license issued by an accredited State Board of Accountancy.
At Blake Willson Group, we believe in transparency and fairness in compensation practices. For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $90,000 to $120,000 in the United States. Your individual salary within this range will be determined by various factors, including but not limited to your education, experience, skills, and geographic location. Skills Required

- 3+ years of experience supporting DoD Working Capital Fund operations, accounting, and budgeting.
- 3+ years of experience with federal accounting standards including SFFAS, OMB Circular A-11, and OMB Circular A-136.
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license issued by an accredited State Board of Accountancy.
