Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently looking for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with expertise in Property & Casualty Insurance to assist our EZLynx product team in understanding the complexities and operation of the independent insurance agency. This individual will be responsible for providing expert knowledge of agency best practices and advice on property and casualty insurance; specifically, a detailed understanding full the roundtrip of agency workflows.
Understanding the various agency roles from Producer, CSR, and Accounting to Management, this individual will help inform and guide the Product team and Engineering in developing the framework to satisfy the Agency experience in a highly regulated industry. A deep understanding of policy contracts and coverages along with experience in direct and agency bills, customer servicing, and competency in downloads will be leveraged in this role.

What You'll Do

  • Provide expert insight and knowledge in property and casualty insurance, effectively guiding and advising teams across EZLynx
  • Act as the internal advocate for our customers (the Independent Agent) ensuring that Product and Engineering teams are building solutions that solve real Agency problems that reduce their E&O exposure.
  • Use your insurance expertise to advise the Product and Engineering teams on efficient user journeys in the feature and product they are developing
  • Help assist in understanding defects reported by support and identify any deficiencies in our workflows that do not meet customer expectations
  • Review downloaded insurance carrier transactions to ensure accuracy of data in the user interface (what the Agent sees in the EZLynx management system)
  • Facilitate training sessions and educate others on industry and agency business operations
  • Review ACORD form requirements and ensure accuracy of data and placement throughout the system
  • Assist teams with insurance-related questions to provide sound business reasons, participate in important discussions regarding new products and workflows, reviews of bugs and issues in the system, and work closely with India teams
  • Develop best practice documentation that focuses on how to integrate agency workflows with the EZLynx system
  • Attend and run ad hoc demonstrations of the EZLynx system for customers
  • Occasionally speak with insurance Agents and Insurance Carriers to gather information for projects


What You'll Need to Succeed
We're looking for someone who:

  • Can work remotely or from an Applied Systems office
  • Ability to travel


Your experience should include some or all of the following:

  • Licensed insurance professional with 5-10 years of experience in an independent insurance agency with both personal and commercial lines of insurance experience
  • Have an active Property & Casualty license
  • Having at least one of the following Insurance Designations (such as CIC, CPCU, CRM, ARM, and the like) is a plus.
  • Exceptional understanding of the following:
    • All common Personal and Commercial lines policy coverages, ACORD forms, and be able to recognize proper form data structure (schedules, coverages, and limit expectations)
    • Purpose for policy downloads and have worked with downloaded policies
    • Certificates and how they are used
    • Working with MGA's for new and renewal quotes, and mid-term service needs
    • Working with multiple Personal and Commercial Insurance Companies
    • The dynamic of the Agency/Carrier relationship
    • Other personal lines and commercial lines "Company Raters" in the market
    • Agency Bill and Direct Bill workflows
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and be a self-starter
  • Excellent time management
  • Able to work under tight deadlines
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in the areas of Business Administration, Information Science, Computer Science, or related disciplines
