The Opportunity:

Unity Environmental University Career Edge seeks enthusiastic and experienced individuals to serve as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support the development of undergraduate courses within our Entrepreneurship curriculum. These courses are part of Unity’s innovative, workforce-aligned academic model and are delivered in five-week terms as asynchronous, online courses designed for diverse learners.

SMEs will collaborate closely with an academic dean and a learning experience designer to shape course content, learning activities, and assessments that are engaging, applied, and accessible to undergraduate learners.

Course to Be Developed

PROF 3001: Cross-Cultural Collaboration


This course prepares students to collaborate across lines of difference in an increasingly interconnected world. Students will explore cultural dimensions that affect communication, decision-making, and teamwork, and develop skills to navigate misunderstandings and build trust. Emphasis is placed on openness, humility, and inclusive collaboration.

Students will:

· Identify cultural values and communication styles that shape group interactions.

 · Demonstrate strategies for resolving misunderstandings across differences.

 · Adapt communication to show respect in diverse teams.

 · Reflect on cultural/personal lenses and how these affect collaboration.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Select and/or design content that supports student mastery of cross-cultural communication, inclusive collaboration, and effective teamwork across differences
  • Translate real-world cross-cultural and collaborative workplace practices into accessible, student-facing instructional materials
  • Develop applied assignments involving cultural self-awareness, communication across differences, conflict resolution, trust-building, and collaboration in diverse settings
  • Collaborate with academic leadership and learning designers in an iterative development process
  • Incorporate inclusive communication, cultural humility, ethical decision-making, and respectful collaboration principles throughout the course
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Communication, Cross-cultural Communication, Organizational Communication, Psychology, Sociology, Global Studies, Education, Leadership, or a closely related field
  • Professional experience working, leading, facilitating, or consulting in culturally diverse or cross-functional team environments
  • Strong understanding of cross-cultural communication, cultural dimensions, inclusive collaboration, conflict resolution, and relationship-building across differences
  • Familiarity with communication strategies that promote respect, trust, and effective teamwork in diverse organizational or global settings
  • Ability to explain cross-cultural communication concepts, cultural awareness, and collaborative practices clearly and effectively for undergraduate learners
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to create clear, student-facing instructions
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively in a remote environment
  • Proficiency with standard computer applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel) and familiarity with modern productivity tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching, training, or mentoring adult or undergraduate learners
  • Background in online or distance education
  • Experience facilitating discussions or training related to cross-cultural communication, diversity, equity, inclusion, or global collaboration
  • Familiarity with cultural frameworks, communication styles, and strategies for fostering effective collaboration across diverse groups
  • Knowledge of inclusive communication practices, conflict resolution, and trust-building in team environments
  • Ability to guide students in self-reflection on cultural and personal perspectives and their impact on communication, decision-making, and teamwork
  • Personal commitment to sustainability, workforce development, and Unity’s environmental mission

The Location
Unity University's distance education curriculum is 100% online. Our Distance Education Adjuncts will teach remotely.
