The Subcon Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring subcontractor (external manufacturing) quality performance meets onsemi requirements for reliability, compliance, and customer satisfaction. This role partners closely with subcontractors, internal cross‑functional teams, and customers to support New Product Introduction (NPI), production, and continuous quality improvement.
Responsibilities• Define and implement subcontractor qualification and quality requirements
• Perform quality phase‑gate reviews (APQP) for new product implementation, site qualification, transfers, and process/material changes
• Act as a quality engineering technical resource for subcontractor development, qualification, and sustaining production
• Lead and conduct audits to subcontractor process, technical, and quality management system
• Support and facilitate external customer audits at subcontractor sites as the main contact window from customer quality engineer.
• Lead failure analysis and quality issue resolution, including on‑site support for critical issues
• Monitor and drive subcontractor quality performance metrics and continuous improvement initiatives
• Implement and sustain quality programs, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and effectiveness checks
• Drive error‑proofing, quality incident prevention, and zero‑defect mindset across subcontractor sites
• Deploy best practices, lessons learned, and standardized quality methods
• Provide training and orientation to subcontractors on onsemi quality systems, tools, and requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related technical discipline
• Minimum 10 years of experience in semiconductor quality, manufacturing or development engineering
• Experience supporting external manufacturing / subcontractors (OSAT) preferred
• Strong knowledge of APQP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA
• Experience with IATF 16949 / TS16949 quality standards
• VDA 6.3 audit experience or certification is an advantage
• Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to engage effectively with global teams and customers.
