Job Description
The successful Sub-Project Manager will be working towards the system upgrades and replacements working as part of the Categorised Projects team. The team delivery has been established in Site Management Project Office to standardise delivery and solutions, and to translate these inefficiencies into opportunities by:
- Using a Categorised Project project management team dedicated to the delivery of control system related tasks and projects using a standard delivery model;
- Utilising a standardised approach to project initiation to ensure scope is defined and underpinned consistently and robustly;
- Removing non value adding activities such as multiple cycling through the sanctioning committees; and
- Retaining LFE within the project delivery team by feeding it back into the standard delivery model.
The existing Supply of Control System Contract has reached its limit against the committed scope and the Categorised Project team are working with the Commercial team to develop its replacement. It is anticipated that the new Supply of Control Systems Contract will be in place FY25/26 and will differ from the existing framework with the inclusion of installation scope.
The Project Manager sets the project execution strategies and uses a cross-functional project team to deliver the project safely in line with company policy achieving established goals and objectives within the agreed baseline.
Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Delivering the project in a safe manner to the specified functional criteria, goals and objectives, compliant with appropriate legislation, Project Execution Procedures and within the approved project baseline, scope, cost, schedule and quality requirements.
- Applying an appropriate level of priority for safety and quality to ensure that Nuclear Safety is not compromised by delivery.
- Implementing and maintaining a competent, effective and efficient Integrated Project Team.
- Minimising the project risks (threats) and maximising opportunities.
- Maximising the project efficiency and effectiveness.
- Early identification of issues, concerns that either have the potential or will impact the project baseline and sanction.
- Proposing, agreeing, implementing and reporting corrective actions to secure the project baseline.
- To the Head of Projects with support from Project Management Function as required, to ensure that the Project Delivery Fundamentals are embedded and complied with in their projects.
Qualifications
Experience required/desired:
- Experience of working on projects in the nuclear industy;
- Experience in project management, managing delivery to cost and schedule;
- Ideally, experience in control system delivery but other engineering disciplines acceptable
- Knowledge of the Sellafield project lifecycle
- Knowledge of NEC3 contracts
Qualifications:
- IPMA Level D (APM) professional qualification or equivalent
- Graduate degree in relevant field

Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
