Principal Software Development Engineer in Test (Principal SDET) (8+ yrs)
We are looking for a highly experienced Principal Software Development Engineer in Test (Principal SDET) with over 8 years of expertise in designing and leading quality engineering solutions for complex, scalable systems. This leadership role will drive the quality strategy, mentor teams, and deliver innovative automation solutions for our eCommerce marketplace platform. You will have a critical impact on the reliability, scalability, and seamless integration of diverse systems, ensuring an exceptional experience for millions of users worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Strategy Leadership: Define and drive the organization-wide quality engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and technology roadmaps.
- Architect Scalable Solutions: Design, implement, and optimize highly scalable, end-to-end testing frameworks for enterprise-level systems, including APIs, microservices, and front-end applications.
- Technical Leadership: Provide thought leadership in automation, testing practices, and quality assurance, influencing cross-functional engineering teams.
- Complex System Testing: Lead efforts in testing large-scale integrations, including ERP systems, payment gateways, inventory management, and multi-region deployments.
- Performance Engineering: Develop and oversee strategies for performance testing to validate system reliability under peak load conditions.
- Data-Centric Testing: Lead validation of complex data workflows, ensuring accuracy and consistency in large-scale data pipelines.
- Tool and Process Optimization: Evaluate and implement cutting-edge testing tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Mentorship and Training: Mentor and guide junior and senior SDETs, fostering a culture of excellence in quality engineering.
- Risk Management: Identify, prioritize, and mitigate risks in development and deployment pipelines.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with architects, product managers, and engineering leaders to ensure high-quality deliverables aligned with customer needs.
Qualifications
Technical Skills:
- Deep expertise in programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#.
- Extensive experience with advanced automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Cypress, Playwright) and performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling, k6).
- Strong background in API testing and integration tools (e.g., Postman, REST Assured, Karate).
- In-depth knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Expertise in microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and asynchronous messaging patterns.
- Experience with large-scale data validation, ETL pipelines, and data-driven testing.
Domain Expertise:
- 8+ years of experience in SDET, quality engineering, or software development, with a focus on enterprise-grade systems.
- Extensive experience in eCommerce or marketplace platforms, including order management, payment systems, and logistics workflows.
- Proven track record in managing the quality of complex ERP and third-party integrations.
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Demonstrated ability to lead quality initiatives across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience presenting to leadership and technical teams.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of professional experience in quality engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
