Student Support Counsellor

Counsellor / Social Worker

• Promote & advocate for student mental health and the psychological well-being and safety of members within a diverse student community in St. Catharines, Ontario

• Provide short-term counselling to a young adult population dealing with various issues that may or may not be academically related

• Evaluate client needs and work with them to set objectives and develop a strategy to achieve them, using a strength-based, solution-focused approach

• Refer clients to appropriate community resources as needed

Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or related field

• Minimum five (5) years of post-masters clinical experience

• In good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) or Ontario College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO)

• Previous experience clinically managing high-risk cases, including clients who are threat to self or others

• Expert understanding of developmental issues of late adolescence (e.g., mental health, disordered eating, transition, relationships & sexuality, substance abuse, etc.)
