STS Metals is seeking a summer intern to support the information technology team on multiple critical projects that will create business value for STS Metals while providing the intern with real-world exposure to various technology, reporting and systems. The STS Metals Business Analytics Intern will support data-driven decision-making by collecting, analyzing, and presenting business information that helps teams identify trends, measure performance, and improve processes. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate who is interested in business intelligence, data analysis, reporting, and practical problem-solving in a professional environment.
Collect, clean, organize, and validate data from internal systems, spreadsheets, reports, and other business sources.
Assist with analyzing operational, financial, customer, or performance data to identify trends, patterns, risks, and opportunities.
Create and update dashboards, scorecards, charts, and recurring reports using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
Support business teams by preparing summaries, insights, and recommendations for meetings, presentations, and decision-making.
Document business processes, data definitions, reporting requirements, and analysis methodologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business questions, gather requirements, and translate data into practical insights.
Assist with ad hoc analytics projects, process improvement initiatives, and performance tracking.
Present findings clearly and professionally to team members, supervisors, or stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Systems Management or Business Analytics
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, charts, and data organization.
- Ability to communicate findings clearly through written summaries, visuals, and presentations.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively in a team environment.
