Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Lead the Propulsion Engineering and Test Cell Engineering function for the Strother site across Commercial and Military programs 

  • Set engineering priorities and align resources to support site, program, and customer needs 

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for complex propulsion and test cell issues, including troubleshooting and issue resolution 

  • Directly lead and develop engineers through coaching, clear expectations, and talent development 

  • Foster a strong team culture centered on safety, quality, accountability, and collaboration 

  • Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable regulatory, customer, and GE Aerospace requirements 

  • Partner with Operations, Safety, and Quality to maintain standard work, risk management, and configuration control 

  • Support production and test operations by driving timely resolution of technical issues affecting schedule, output, or readiness 

  • Lead or sponsor root cause and corrective action efforts for significant technical or operational issues 

  • Represent the engineering function in site leadership and cross-functional forums, communicating technical status, risks, and mitigation plans 

  • Promote continuous improvement, technical excellence, and adoption of best practices across the engineering team 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or related technical discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience in propulsion, gas turbine engine, test cell engineering, or related aerospace engineering environment; or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 9 years of experience in propulsion, gas turbine engine, test cell engineering, or related aerospace engineering environment.

  • Experience supporting production, operations, propulsion, or test engineering environments 

  • Experience leading engineers, engineering teams, or complex technical projects 

  • Experience with issue resolution, root cause analysis, and corrective actions in a regulated, quality-driven, or operational environment 

  • Experience communicating technical information, risks, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders 

  • Advanced degree in Engineering or related technical field 

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams across Commercial and Military platforms 

  • Direct experience with propulsion test facilities, instrumentation, data acquisition, and test methods 

  • Familiarity with aerospace regulatory frameworks and customer requirements, such as FAA, DoD, and OEM standards 

  • Experience with lean or continuous improvement methods, including standard work, root cause analysis, and process optimization 

  • Experience attracting, developing, and retaining engineering talent and building cohesive teams 

  • Prior experience in an SPB-level or equivalent technical leadership role within a complex manufacturing or test environment
