Want to work on high-impact naval engineering projects that push the limits of structural analysis?
We’re looking for a Stress Engineer to join our Naval team on a 3-year fixed-term contract, contributing to high-impact defence projects. Reporting to the Mechanical Integrity Leader, you’ll collaborate with experienced engineers, solving challenging problems using advanced analytical techniques.
What You'll be doing:
- Analyse components for fatigue, plastic collapse, buckling, ratcheting, rupture, natural frequency, heat transfer.
- Analyse components for loads from shock and operation.
- Assist in weld type definition and check for strength and fatigue.
- Identify deficiencies in design through analysis techniques and propose improvements to features.
- Analyse features and components for safe lifting during build and installation.
- As required, analyse non-customer equipment such as pressure test fixtures.
- Build FE models from CAD assemblies.
- Produce high quality technical reports and presentation material.
- Participate in design reviews, customer presentations and meetings.
What we’re looking for
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Experience of analysis of mechanical components
- Strong working knowledge of FEA tools (ideally ANSYS)
- Understanding of engineering codes (ASME, DNV)
- Knowledge of rotating equipment, turbines preferably
- Ability to work collaboratively and meet tight deadlines
- Proactive mindset with strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) is a plus
- Experience in rotordynamics would be an advantage
