THE ROLE

Our Strategy Development team is a highly talented group of versatile software engineers that lead the development of Virtu's complex algorithmic trading strategies. As a Strategy Developer, your primary responsibility will be to design, develop and maintain our proprietary, low-latency trading algorithms and infrastructure. Responsibilities include improving the scalability, performance and efficiency of existing trading strategies, collaborating with Quantitative Traders and Quants to design new strategies, and building trading analysis and risk monitoring tools.

We look for self-directed, passionate developers with a solid technical foundation and a drive to dive into the details of advanced technologies and programming languages. We value strong communication skills; the ability to discuss complex, technical problems are critical to the success of our collaborative culture. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Design, build, and maintain our proprietary, low-latency trading algorithms, systems, and infrastructures
  • Create powerful trading tools which leverage all aspects of our high-performance system
  • Design, create, and test trading strategies and infrastructures with cross-functional teams
  • Improve the scalability, performance, and efficiency of the existing tens of thousands of trading strategies in production
  • Understand the future needs of the business and design technical solutions to meet these demands
  • Ability to handle a wide variety of projects, from frontend facing projects to backend infrastructure, each in different programming languages

THE CANDIDATE

  • Mastery of core Java and/or C++
  • Experience developing in a Linux environment
  • Experience in low-latency systems and/or high transaction environments is a plus
  • Interest in trading and financial markets
  • Works well in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Driven, self-starting personality. Our employees are expected to demonstrate peer leadership and initiative early on
  • Experience working with Python and relational databases is desired but not required
THE PROCESS: 
 
If applicant passes an initial resume screening, we will send an online programming test via email from a service called HackerRank. After passing the programming test, we will contact you to arrange a phone screen. 
 
This role is based in our Dublin office with some flexibility to work hybrid.
