As a member of the World Economic Forum’s Tokyo office, the Strategy and Transformation Lead will play a central role in shaping and executing the office’s strategic priorities, narrative, and team alignment to support its next phase of growth and impact.

The Tokyo office operates through a matrix structure spanning four core functions: (1) Government Engagement, (2) Business Engagement, (3) Stakeholder Engagement, and (4) Strategy and Operations. Working across these functions, the Strategy and Transformation Lead will drive cross-functional coordination, strategic planning, and organizational transformation initiatives to strengthen the office’s effectiveness and long-term impact.

Reporting directly to the Chief Representative Officer of the World Economic Forum in Japan, the Strategy and Transformation Lead will serve as a trusted thought partner and catalyst for change, helping ensure alignment across teams and translating strategic priorities into measurable outcomes.

This position is based in the Forum’s Tokyo office.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 

• Contribute to shaping the Forum's strategy in Japan and translate it into a coordinated, impact-driven roadmap of priorities and activities.

• Develop the documents, tools, and data needed to support the Tokyo office’s strategy and activities, including overviews of internal timelines, external calendars, talent reviews, impact dashboards, and engagement data.

• Manage strategic transformation activities for the Tokyo office, developing milestones and providing consistent progress updates to the Chief Representative Officer.

• Support narrative alignment, consistent approaches, and collaboration across multiple teams within the Tokyo office and across the Forum.

• Codify lessons learned from strategic transformation activities and act as a trusted source of continuous feedback to strengthen the Forum’s value proposition in Japan.

• Support talent development, recruitment, onboarding, and team-building across the team, strengthening a culture of excellence, impact, and collaboration

• Work closely with the Chief Representative Officer and Leadership Team to identify areas for future focus to strengthen the team’s impact.

• Develop and serve as a role-model for a strong understanding of the Tokyo office’s mission and culture within the broader Forum context.

Qualifications and Skills
 
• Master’s degree in economics, business, management, organization development, or other relevant fields; an interdisciplinary background and approach preferred.
• At least 15 years of professional experience in strategy consulting, change management, or corporate strategy, with demonstrated experience leading multistakeholder initiatives and partnerships.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and operate with a high degree of autonomy.

• Knowledge of the Forum context, culture, business model, and operating environment preferred.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English; professional-level proficiency in Japanese would be an asset.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills, with strong relationship-building capabilities and the ability to thrive in a multicultural, highly collaborative environment.

• Ability to operate in a trusted capacity with discernment and discretion when handling confidential information.

• Ability to collaborate efficiently and transparently as a strong team player within an agile matrix organization.
