Job Description:
SUMMARY OF THE POSITIONAs a mid-sized global biopharmaceutical company, Ipsen improves patients’ lives through research, innovation and the development of transformative medicines in Oncology, Rare Disease and Neuroscience.
The Strategy & Transformation team is responsible for the definition, management and oversight of Ipsen’s strategy and transformation roadmap to support the group’s ambition.
The Strategy & Transformation Director helps orchestrate the company strategy across Ipsen Divisions & Functions and designs and executes top priority strategic & transformation projects.
The role
Support Senior Management in decision-making related to the overall strategy of the Group
Support Group transformation by bringing a cross-functional and independent view
Lead/support strategic & transformation projects either as project managers or as contributors
Orchestrate the Group’s long-term strategic plans across Group divisions and functions
Produce strategic analysis/benchmarks on a broad range of metrics and KPIs
Role model the cultural transformation of IPSEN into a leading global Biotech focused on innovation and specialty care
Support Executive Leadership Team in the definition of group strategy
Work with Executive Vice President, Strategy & Transformation, to develop, align and monitor Ipsen Strategic Priorities and Roadmap
Coordinate with Finance on Long Range Plan, leading 10-year strategic plan (approach, deliverables, modelling, risk escalation
Drive overall strategic thinking and supporting analytics (P&L analysis, financial indicators, sensitivities, upsides / downsides, Business Development scenarios) with support from a cross divisional team
Drive strategic and transformation projects for Ipsen
Scope and structure functional/business strategic projects: create and implement the project governance, align objectives to Ipsen strategy, involve stakeholders, commit on deadlines, put in place risk mitigation plans
Ensure the timely and successful execution of strategic projects: ensure appropriate internal support, monitor delivery of third-party contractors
A variety of projects are led / supported by this group – including integration of new partner(s) or asset(s), evolving strategy or operating model for product/therapeutic areas or geographies, value chain areas, assessing geographic or TA footprint, etc.
Provide strategic support to Ipsen teams with high strategic stakes, such as the Asset Team Leads and BD Teams
Drive inclusion of strategy in functional agendas,
Provide tools to make appropriate strategic decisions,
Where relevant, identify levers of efficiency,
Design and produce strategic analyses/benchmarks on a broad range of metrics and KPIs.
Stakeholder engagement:
Directors autonomously collaborate with senior leaders and colleagues cross the group. In addition, they engage with Project Leaders from third party contractors, in particular from Strategy & Management Consulting firms.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCEExperience / Educational Background:
PhD, Business school, PharmD, MD, or similar relevant degree(s)
8+ years of relevant work experience in life sciences and/or strategy consulting
Consulting experience and knowledge of healthcare environment, ideally including a general understanding of drug development, regulatory processes, commercial, medical and market access dynamics
Outstanding track record of success in past professional and academic endeavors
Skills & Attributes:
Strong social agility required to influence outcomes, working with all levels of the organization, particularly senior leadership
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort preparing research to facilitate development of solutions that address critical business needs
Communication and interpersonal and facilitation skills necessary to drive alignment, including experience of preparing and delivering presentations
Ability to interface with technical and scientific experts, colleagues across functions and company senior leadership
Proven ability to scope, develop, and manage projects
Experience of People Management (consulting or other) and playing active role in coaching and upskilling team members
