About Carvana

At Carvana, we’re changing the way people buy and sell cars. With an ambitious vision and a fundamentally different approach designed to be fun, fast, and fair, Carvana became the fastest-growing automotive retailer in history. We expanded nationally, went public on the New York Stock Exchange, sold our 1 millionth car, and reached the Fortune 500, all in just eight years.

Today, with 4 million retail customers and counting, Carvana is both the fastest-growing and the most profitable public automotive retailer, and we’re just getting started. We continue to raise the bar for our customers as we tackle the enormous opportunity still ahead in the largest consumer vertical.

Working here means being part of a team that embraces change, celebrates creative problem solving, and always strives to be better. At Carvana, you’ll have the opportunity to take on meaningful challenges, learn quickly, and help shape the future of automotive retail. If you’re driven to grow and make an impact as part of a collaborative team, you’ll fit right in. Learn more about what it’s like to work here from the people that already do.

About the team and position

As an Analyst on one of our dynamic strategy teams, you'll dive into a role where data shapes the future of car buying. Our teams use cutting-edge analytics and strategic insights to help us more efficiently make improvements to our customer experience. For example, your work might focus on recommendations for how we allocate our marketing budget, uncovering patterns to enhance our fraud detection models, determining the prices we bid on vehicles at auctions, or assessing the impact of product enhancements on our website or mobile app.

You'll work with vast data sets from diverse sources, turning them into actionable strategies that drive (get it?) our business forward. Whether it's optimizing operations, enhancing customer experiences, or exploring new market opportunities, you’ll get to use your analytical skills to make business decisions and will be given the autonomy to share your insights.

What you’ll be doing

  • Translating data into consumable, actionable narratives; regularly consulting with stakeholders including senior leadership, sharing results and strategic recommendations.
  • Working closely with Product, Engineering, Strategic Partnerships, and Operations to assess performance and identify and prioritize opportunities.
  • Exploring and segmenting data to identify and explain key drivers; design and build models, dashboards, and visualizations to support Product teams.
  • Designing split tests, interpreting results, and communicating the broader implications.
  • Taking ownership of the product track, enabling and empowering the constantly evolving customer experience that makes us leaders in our field.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you should have

  • Undergraduate degree in Statistics, Economics, Math, Computer Science, Computational Math, Econometrics, Engineering, or similar field with a strong academic record; graduate degree preferred.
  • 1-3+ years of experience in analytics or quantitative practices working in data warehouse environments.
  • Comfort navigating and manipulating large data sets to identify trends and underlying drivers.
  • Familiarity with Python (or R) preferred.
  • Strong experience in SQL.
  • Experience in one or more of these areas:
    • A/B testing or experimentation
    • Business strategy or consulting
    • Statistical analysis using methods like regression.
  • Ability to thrive (and preference to work) in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with frequently changing goals and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and interest in solving problems, particularly using data to help answer somewhat nebulous questions (e.g., how consumers make purchasing decisions).
  • Excellence in implementation, including attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Enthusiasm and positive energy to contribute to and thrive in a rapidly growing start-up atmosphere where roles continually adapt as the company evolves.
  • Prior experience in Tableau or another visualization tool is a plus.

What we’ll offer in return

  • Full-Time Salary Position with a competitive salary.
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits.
  • 401K with company match.
  • A multitude of perks including student loan payments, discounts on vehicles, benefits for your pets, and much more.
  • A great wellness program to keep you healthy and happy both physically and mentally.
  • Access to opportunities to expand your skill set and share your knowledge with others across the organization.
  • A company culture of promotions from within, with a start-up atmosphere allowing for varied and rapid career development.
  • A seat in one of the fastest-growing companies in the country.
