The Role

Determined. Imaginative. Curious. If these are some of the ways you describe yourself — we want to learn more about you! At TC Energy, we are Energy Problem Solvers — passionate about transitioning North America to cleaner energy while meeting the energy demands of today and tomorrow. If that sounds like a challenge you want to help tackle, we want you to join our team!

The Opportunity

As a Strategy Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting TC Energy’s Natural Gas Pipeline business in achieving its Strategic Vision “to be the leader in the safe and reliable transportation of natural gas which creates value for our shareholders, prioritizes our customers, and empowers our employees”.

Reporting to the Manager, Energy Intelligence and Analysis, you will work on a team of Energy Problem Solvers to gather and synthesize supply/demand/market data into critical and actionable insights that drive our strategy.

You will evaluate emerging trends in energy policy at federal, state and local levels, conduct research, provide critical analysis, and develop analytic tools – including dashboards, presentations and reports. This role will also respond to ad hoc requests from a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external. There are regular opportunities to communicate with TC Energy’s senior leaders, presenting your findings via timely and insightful presentations. You will also assist in assessing potential acquisitions and divestitures and alternatives.

What you’ll do

  • Evaluate and analyze data to develop intuitive visualizations and provide insight on market conditions impacting the competitive positioning of the TC’s pipeline assets, customers, and competitors
  • Communicate results and recommendations arising from analysis to senior leadership within TC Energy
  • Contribute to the development and structuring of a central repository of data and strategic analysis from several internal and external sources of market and operational information (This will include working cross functionally across the organization to gather and distill key information into actionable intelligence)
  • Initiate and maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders to gather relevant market and customer information to support the development of value-added analytic tools
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and reach outcomes that maximize value to the organization
  • Interact regularly with internal clients to communicate and disseminate analysis and related data, which will include development and delivery of presentations and management reports
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations of how natural gas supply and demand dynamics, and the interplay between market forces and public policy, impact TC Energy’s business

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Economics or Business or other related discipline
  • 10 years of industry related experience
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with strong conceptual thinking and the ability to construct narratives concerning the meaningful opportunities and challenges facing our business
  • A demonstrated interest in the energy sector with a command of current events related to natural gas markets, policy, regulation, financial markets, emerging technology, and macroeconomics
  • Working experience managing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Strategic understanding of the natural gas infrastructure business.
  • Strong project management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as an analyst
  • Experience with a variety of energy and natural gas-focused data services preferred (e.g. S&P Global, Wood Mackenzie, EIA)

To remain competitive, support our high-performance culture and allow for more flexibility in the way we work, we offer a hybrid work model and flexible dress code for our eligible office-based workforce in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. #LI-Hybrid
