Job Description:

We are seeking an Analyst, Strategy to help support the development of Vertex’s corporate and business strategy. You will be part of the Chief Strategy Office (CSO) working closely with the Director, Strategy and Director, Innovation and other members of the CSO.

This position is is responsible for producing high-quality analysis, insights and recommendations primarily supporting the Office of Strategy key initiatives and secondarily assisting organization constituencies (Sales, Finance, Marketing, etc.) in ad-hoc competitive and market analysis requests.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports the development and execution of corporate strategy efforts / initiatives through high quality analysis, often utilizing 3rd party research, financial modeling, internal / external interviews and contacts, etc.
  • At times, works with no or limited supervision (and often significant ambiguity) to drive small-scale strategy projects (or components related to larger strategy projects)
  • Supports aspects of the organization's Merger and Acquisition (M&A) process (e.g. target identification, evaluation, etc.)
  • Supports and drives ad-hoc analysis and intelligence-related requests from key internal constituencies.
  • Responsible for curation and dissemination of such information internally.
  • Identifies, tracks and assesses new markets, emerging technologies, and industry trends of relevance to Vertex near and long-term strategy.
  • Maintains trusted relationships with key stakeholders departments across the organization.
  • May lead projects and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional business travel may be required.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate beyond boundaries of strategy organization.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Business Management, Finance required; MBA preferred.
  • Five (5) plus years of experience.
  • Two (2) plus years’ work experience in management consulting or corporate strategy with software or technology-specific focus / orientation.
  • Venture capital, private equity experience a plus.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
