In this position, you will lead a purchasing team located in Portland, OR, providing expertise in negotiating and building supplier relationships to support the global efforts of the TT group. This emerging, exciting technology will drive DTNA’s success by helping our customers, engineering department, and service network adopt electrified commercial vehicles into their operations.

What You Drive at DTNA
-
Manage commodity responsibilities for HV ePowertrain components for all DTNA eVehicles, including non-captive HV batteries and eAxles.

Recruit, train, develop, grow, and motivate a team of six buyers and project managers through constructive feedback in regular development and mentoring reviews.

Achieve Purchasing-specific project targets such as material cost, tooling cost, and supplier development cost within given deadlines; achieve annual cost reduction targets.

Secure materials at the best production and aftermarket cost, while improving vehicle quality, reliability, and warranty objectives.

Utilize available tools and tactics to establish best-in-class effectiveness in negotiation, implementation, and sourcing results.

Properly document negotiation results through contracts and maintain transparency in Purchasing systems.

Evaluate alternative suppliers, materials, and technologies to support strategic objectives.

Drive strategic ZEV Partnerships and JVs with a special focus on procurement and supply chain activities

Facilitate processes that address the complexities of the eMobility space, including managing lead-times, supply, and cost management for these commodities.

Develop effective working relationships and collaboration with cross-functional colleagues.

Manage and participate in global corporate teams as part of the Lead Buying process, as well as mirror buying, to develop and support both regional and global commodity strategies.

Develop supplier relationships that ensure participation and commitment to new product development, design, testing, and production implementation, strengthening DTNA’s competitive position and fostering innovative product offerings.

Establish relationships with senior and executive management at suppliers to gain participation and commitment to new product development, design, testing, and production implementation.

Provide leadership to suppliers in terms of improved operations, adopting new technologies, and offering support to Daimler and its customers.
Knowledge You Should Bring
-
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university/college with 8+ years of related experience
-
At least 2 years of group leader, supervisory or project lead experience required.

Detailed knowledge of economic issues affecting business decisions required.

Understanding of complex cost structures and value drivers required

Understanding of commercial concepts required
-
Knowledge of supplier landscape (regional and global), materials and manufacturing technologies required
-
Strong competency for managing cross-functional and global teams required
-
An attached resume is required.
Exceptional Candidates Might Have

Master’s degree preferred
-
Extensive Purchasing experience preferred.

At least 5 years of experience in a related technical, operational, or financial field preferred.
