About Standard Bots
Standard Bots is building the next generation of industrial robots -- hardware that's powerful, affordable, and designed to scale. We're moving fast from prototype to high-volume production, and the supply chain foundation we build today is what lets us hit cost, quality, and delivery targets at scale. This role is central to that.
Note: This role is hybrid, with regular presence at our Glen Cove, NY manufacturing facility and New York City office.
The Role
We're looking for a Strategic Sourcing Manager to own how we source the hardware, components, and commodities that go into our robots. You'll build and manage category strategies, run competitive sourcing events, negotiate supplier contracts, and be the connective tissue between engineering, finance, and operations on all things procurement.
This is a hands-on role for someone who's comfortable building process where it doesn't exist, moving fast when the situation calls for it, and showing up to a supplier negotiation knowing their cost breakdown as well as they do.
You'll report directly to the Head of Supply Chain.
What You'll Do
Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Own category strategies for key hardware and commodities -- mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic components
- Run end-to-end RFQ/RFP processes -- scope, evaluate, negotiate, and award -- with leadership visibility throughout
- Identify and qualify new suppliers, with a preference for domestic and USMCA-friendly sources
- Conduct supplier business reviews covering delivery, quality, cost trajectory, and capacity
- Drive year-over-year cost reductions through volume leverage, design-to-cost collaboration, and competitive re-sourcing
Contracts & Compliance
- Negotiate and manage commercial agreements: supply contracts, NDAs, equipment loans, and software licenses
- Track contract renewals, price escalations, and milestone obligations proactively
- Support international procurement and trade compliance as needed
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with engineering on component selection and supplier readiness during NPI
- Collaborate with finance on COGS projections, tooling capex, and savings tracking
- Maintain sourcing dashboards and own the supplier onboarding and approval process
What We're Looking For
- 3-6 years in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain -- with hands-on experience negotiating supplier contracts
- Hardware sourcing background: mechanical, electromechanical, or electronic components -- not just services or indirect spend
- Demonstrated negotiation experience -- you've led commercial negotiations on price, payment terms, and contract language and can show the outcomes
- Experience onboarding suppliers from scratch and managing qualification timelines
- Comfortable with TCO models, cost breakdowns, and spend analysis in Excel or equivalent
- Startup or high-growth mindset: you build the process when it doesn't exist and move without waiting for full direction
Nice to Have
- Experience sourcing for a hardware or robotics product in a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with USMCA, ITAR, or other trade compliance frameworks relevant to industrial hardware
- Exposure to NPI processes and the intersection of engineering and supply chain during new product development
- Background working with contract manufacturers or managing tooling capex
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $130,000 to $160,000. We are open to a variety of seniority levels for this role and will build compensation packages that are commensurate with seniority and skill level. Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at Standard Bots. All Full-Time Employees are eligible for Employee Stock Options. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees.
Skills Required
- 3-6 years in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain with hands-on supplier contract negotiation experience
- Hardware sourcing background for mechanical, electromechanical, or electronic components
- Demonstrated negotiation experience on price, payment terms, and contract language
- Experience onboarding and qualifying new suppliers and managing qualification timelines
- Proficiency with TCO models, cost breakdowns, and spend analysis in Excel or equivalent
- Startup or high-growth mindset; ability to build processes and move quickly
- Hybrid work with regular presence at Glen Cove, NY manufacturing facility and New York City office
- Experience sourcing for hardware or robotics products in a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with USMCA, ITAR, or other trade compliance frameworks
- Exposure to NPI processes and engineering-supply chain collaboration during new product development
- Background working with contract manufacturers or managing tooling capex
