Daikin Applied is hiring a Strategic Sourcing Manager - Pumps and Chemicals! In this exciting role, you will proactively manage assigned direct material categories, including critical component parts and raw materials, from a global supply base. This role is responsible for developing strategic supplier relationships, ensuring supply continuity in support of Daikin Applied’s growth plans, ensuring premier quality and on time delivery, driving ongoing competitive costs, identifying new and differentiable technologies, and enabling new product development. Location: Hybrid - Plymouth, MN

What you will do:

  • Negotiate supply agreements and ensure vendor relations are solid

  • Counter price increase demands and prepare strategies for various commodities

  • Create opportunities for CIP savings and deliver year over year cost savings

  • Act as negotiator when supply deliveries default

  • Understand the cost structures of the supplier base

  • Ensure the New Product Introduction (NPI) projects are fully support with procurement roles

  • Lead product development activities with key suppliers

  • Identify/develop strategic OEM supplier relationships

  • Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority

  • Manage cost reduction programs consistent with Daikin Applied’s business plan.

  • Confer with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule

  • Select products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items

  • Estimate values according to knowledge of market price

  • Determine method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid

  • Prepare purchase orders or bid requests

  • Maintain procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories

  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, suppliers, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Economics, Engineering, or Finance)

  • Master’s degree in business, supply chain, or engineering preferred

  • 6-8 years of sourcing/procurement experience or equivalent

  • 4+ years people leadership experience

  • Experience with domestic and international sourcing and supplier management

  • Experience creating and implementing category strategies

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Strong relationship-management and communication skills

  • Bias for action; adaptable in a dynamic environment

  • Work visa sponsorship is not available

Daikin Applied offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements:

The typical pay rate for the position ranges from $90,000 - $153,300 +10% bonus in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position(s) fall. Individual hourly pay rate will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
