The opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to drive our expansion in Europe. The Strategic Relationship Manager shall work closely with the Senior Director, EMEA & APAC to develop and execute strategic sales initiatives to expand our market presence and achieve revenue targets within the higher education sector. This role demands consultative selling and value selling skills, as well as the ability to engage with senior academic and administrative leaders.
What you'll do:
Market Development:

Identify and prioritize opportunities for Harvard Business Publishing in the European higher education sector. Develop a thorough understanding of the market landscape, including key institutions, decision-makers, and trends
Sales Strategy:

Create and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve and exceed revenue targets.

Tailor approaches to meet the unique needs of the European market.

Monitor sales performance against targets, identify gaps, and develop strategies to ensure sales objectives are met or exceeded
Consultative Selling:

Utilize consultative selling techniques to understand the needs of potential clients and demonstrate how HBP’s products and services can add value to their institutions
Relationship Management:

Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including education leaders, faculty members, and other relevant stakeholder
Product Knowledge:

Maintain in-depth knowledge of HBP’s product offerings, including digital learning solutions, case studies, and academic resources
Collaboration:
-
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, and customer support, to ensure alignment and optimal service delivery
Market intelligence and competitive analysis:

Stay updated on industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities within the higher education domain
Attend industry events and conferences:

Represent the organization at relevant industry events, and conferences. Network with potential clients, industry influencers, and key stakeholders to promote the organization's mission and establish thought leadership within the higher education domain
Reporting:

Provide regular updates and reports on sales activities, pipeline development, and market feedback to senior management
What you'll bring:

Minimum of 5 years of sales experience, preferably in the education sector or with a focus on consultative selling.

High level of proficiency in English, German and French is required. Other European languages are a plus.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and organizational skills

Ability to work independently and operate with flexibility in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment

Deep understanding of the higher education landscape in Europe, including knowledge of industry trends, challenges, and opportunities

Strong relationship-building skills to maintain personal rapport with clients

A consultative approach, with the ability to ask relevant questions, assess needs, define problems, and focus on business outcomes

Willingness to travel extensively (50% of the time) within Europe

Above is the annualized pay range for this position. This position is also eligible to participate in HBP’s sales variable bonus plan. Actual salary will be set based upon a range of factors, including external benchmark market data, individual knowledge, skills, experience, location, and internal equity.
