Hume City Council is one of Melbourne’s largest and fastest growing municipalities, serving a diverse community across Melbourne’s north. We are committed to shaping connected, prosperous and sustainable communities through strategic planning, infrastructure investment and strong partnerships across government, industry and the community.

As a growth area council, Hume is at the forefront of managing significant population growth, supporting the delivery of new communities, employment opportunities, transport connections and social infrastructure. Our work helps create places where people can live, work, learn and thrive now and into the future.

Guided by our values of We're Better, Every Day; We're In It Together; We Show Up; and All for Hume, we foster a collaborative and inclusive workplace where people are empowered to make a meaningful contribution to the future of our city and community.

Hume City Council is seeking a Strategic Project Support Officer to support the delivery of the Federally funded Urban Precincts and Partnerships Program (UPPP) on behalf of the established partnership between City of Whittlesea, Mitchell Shire, Hume City Council, Stockland and Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation for the Cloverton Metropolitan Activity Centre (MAC). A significant partnership initiative that will help shape the future of one of Melbourne's major growth areas.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Working within the Precincts and Partnerships team, you will provide project, contract and administrative support to ensure project milestones, governance requirements and funding obligations are achieved.
  • Reporting to the Principal Project Manager, you will work closely with consultants, project partners, government agencies and internal stakeholders to coordinate project activities, monitor progress and support effective decision making. The role plays an important part in maintaining project documentation, preparing reports and briefings, coordinating meetings and workshops, and supporting procurement and contract administration processes.
  • This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys working across multiple workstreams and can confidently manage competing priorities. You will be responsible for tracking actions and deliverables, monitoring project information and budgets, maintaining project systems and registers, and helping ensure obligations under partnership agreements and external funding arrangements are met.
  • Success in this role will come from your strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to build productive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders. You will be a proactive problem solver who can work independently, communicate clearly and anticipate project needs before they arise.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-profile strategic project while developing your experience in project management, governance, stakeholder engagement and partnership delivery within a complex and collaborative environment

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

  • Demonstrated project administration and support skills, including experience with procurement and compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience or strong capability in contract administration, including supporting the monitoring of consultant deliverables and compliance with contract terms.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to anticipate needs and manage multiple priorities.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including experience liaising with senior executives, government, and community stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and a proactive approach.
  • High level of computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.

Required Certifications & Qualifications:

Degree or Diploma in project management, planning, business administration, community development or a related discipline, together with relevant project support experience, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
