Our team in Power & Data has an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Program Manager to join them. The position is based onsite in Blacksburg, Virginia. 

As a Strategic Program Manager, you will:

  • Lead execution of complex defense programs across engineering, production, supply chain, and quality teams

  • Serve as the primary program leader for key customers, driving alignment despite evolving priorities and non-linear demand signals

  • Develop and manage integrated program plans, including cost, schedule, and risk

  • Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) to track performance and forecast outcomes

  • Manage financial performance, including cost-plus and fixed-price contracts

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks in dynamic, high-pressure environments

  • Communicate program status, risks, and financial performance to senior leadership and customers

  • Drive issue resolution through day-to-day customer engagement and internal coordination

  • Support business growth through proposal development, capture efforts, and strategic planning

  • Champion continuous improvement and standard program management practices

Here’s what you need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field

  • 7 years of program or project management experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

  • Proven success managing complex, high-value programs with cross-functional teams.

  • Skilled in project management tools such as MS Project, and familiar with ERP systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead proposals, negotiate contracts, and manage development program schedules, costs, and risks.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills, with a high level of emotional intelligence and customer orientation.

  • Strong ability to operate in ambiguous, fast-changing customer environments

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to influence both internal teams and demanding external stakeholders

Preferred Skills:

  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.

  • Earned Value Management (EVM), cost accounting, and contract types including cost-plus and fixed price experience is a plus.

  • Experience supporting U.S. defense programs (e.g., aerospace platforms, weapons systems, or military technologies)

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma.

  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.

Salary Range Transparency:

Blacksburg, VA $115,000.00–$165,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
