The Difference You Will Make
The Strategic Partnership Lead for Airbnb’s Japan leads business partnerships and business development activities in the territory. This role is an Individual Contributor role and reports directly to the Country Manager, Japan.
A Typical Day
- Identifies opportunities for establishing partnerships and business development activities that support our business goals.
- Establishes and maintains partnerships at local level.
- Ensures partnerships and business development activities are coordinated across all business areas.
- Evaluates the financial and strategic benefits of potential partnerships.
- Develop a clear understanding of the competitive landscape for our businesses.
- Build and maintain relationships with potential partners and collaboration opportunities.
- Manages and engages current partnerships in the market.
Your Expertise
- 10-12 years of experience in strategic partnerships, business development or related field
- Critical:
- Relationship building and negotiation capabilities with external executive stakeholders
- Maintain engagement of current partner ecosystem
- Superpower: able to develop growth strategies focused both on financial gain and product development.
- Growth obsessed
- Deep business acumen to conduct extensive market research and anticipate product and business needs
- Ideal:
- Prior experience in Consulting, Marketing, Finance, or Business Development roles.
- Ability to build relationships and influence internal executive stakeholders and build long-term external relationships with new and existing partners.
- Strong strategic and critical thinking skills - ability to connect dots and proactively develop proposals and solutions
- Equal parts right brain and left brain; able to disassemble problems and rebuild them creatively
- Able to effectively partner with our finance and legal teams to ensure adherence to budgets and law-established rules and guidelines
- Strong project management and organization skills
- Successful candidate will be an ultimate host who is able to use judgment and nuance in getting things done on behalf of the Country Manager without overusing the authority endowed in the role.
