This position is responsible for providing leadership to large strategic and often cross-functional projects. It encompasses planning, directing, organizing, and controlling project business deliverables and ensuring the achievement of business results. The Implementation Manager is responsible for oversight and leadership of the team, business processes and deliverables, and achievement of results for the business areas impacted.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, control and evaluate cross-functional projects from concept through implementation of a solution to ensure satisfaction of business partner needs (balance of schedule, cost, and deliverable requirements). Accountable for the construction and presentation of business cases for initiatives that require funding incremental to in-line budgets.
- Working with key stakeholders, direct and manage the project processes following the appropriate methodologies to ensure optimization of resources to meet the needs of the business. Methodologies are scaled to the type and scope of the project and are left to the discretion of the Implementation manager.
- Negotiate with business partners within and outside the division for resources necessary to execute on the deliverable defined with projects. Ensure projects are appropriately staffed and stakeholders are defined and appropriately engaged in the project. .
- When applicable, position is accountable for working with procurement on securing contracts for sizeable vendor contracts that either are new capabilities or renewal of existing capabilities. Assemble and manage the project team that will serve as the decision making body for such engagement.
- Responsible for the implementation of new capabilities from concept through all stages of implementation. This includes the vetting of various design and approach options, all change management and communications to ensure implementation readiness.
- Provide leadership and vision to all staff assigned to projects including internal employees as well as external contractors, ensuring the entire project is proceeding with consistent direction in a coordinated manner. Through effective role modeling, demonstrate expected corporate and divisional behaviors. Provide coaching, mentoring and performance feedback.
- Set clear team and individual expectations to ensure accomplishment of team goals and that also contribute to an environment that promotes teamwork, motivation, and solid decision making taking appropriate and understood risks.
Required Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Financial services experience in a brokerage, broker/dealer, investment advisory or similar firm required. Working knowledge of FINRA and SEC regulatory requirements (in a retail setting) preferred. Ideal candidate will have significant experience leading a business function (operations, marketing, product) in a representative organization.
- Five-plus years experience managing projects from a business perspective, in a senior manager business role. Experience leading projects with a significant technology component required. PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) designation from the Project Management Institute (PMI) preferred.
- Working knowledge of project management methodologies. Demonstrated proficiency in implementing such methodologies in a business setting. Proficiency using automated planning/scheduling tools (eg. MS Project)
- Credibility; proven ability in a leadership position
- Strong financial skills.
- Experience negotiating contracts.
