R2Net’s Strategic Finance Internship offers a hands-on opportunity to work at the intersection of data, strategy, and innovation within the fine jewelry and diamond industry. Based in our New York City office, interns will be embedded within core business units such as Marketing, Finance, Operations, or Customer Service.
Each intern will take ownership of one to two strategic business questions and partner closely with internal stakeholders. Supported by the Finance and Analytics team, interns will help drive insights and deliver actionable recommendations that directly influence decisions at Blue Nile.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Strategic Finance and business stakeholders to scope and evaluate key financial and strategic questions
- Perform financial and operational analysis using Excel-based models, including:
- Revenue, margin, and contribution profitability analysis
- Budget vs. forecast vs. actual variance analysis
- Cost structure, fixed vs. variable expense, and efficiency analysis
- Unit economics and return-on-investment assessments
- Scenario and sensitivity analysis to support planning decisions
- Support elements of monthly and quarterly performance analysis and forecasting, budgeting, and long-range plan processes
- Partner with Strategic Finance and business stakeholders to scope and evaluate key financial and strategic questions
- Help improve financial models and recurring reporting, while synthesizing analysis into concise slides and narratives for management to drive decision-making
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
- Proficient in Excel; familiarity with Tableau or other data visualization tools is preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate unclear data into business insights.
- Self-starter with excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Must be able to work full-time on-site in New York City for the full 8-week internship period.
Benefits
Hourly pay rate: $17.00 - 19.50. Final pay rate shall be determined and is based on experience and qualifications. At this time, R2NET will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
