Job Description

Join us as a Strategic Account Manager and play a key role in building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with global key accounts and OEM partners. 

In this highly visible role, you will develop and nurture long-term relationships with global key accounts and OEM partners, serving as a trusted advisor and strategic business partner. You will identify growth opportunities, lead customer engagement initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences and business outcomes.

To perform this job successfully, the Strategic Account Manager must be able to capably perform each of the following essential duties:

  • Own strategic global or regional accounts / OEM partners, providing comprehensive support across all sales process stages by coordinating with the appropriate LGC Standards team members and by selling the entire LGC Standards portfolio.
  • Manage and nurture the most strategic account relationships with key influencers (e.g., leadership, lab stakeholders, procurement, etc.) to drive retention and expansion; provide product awareness, consultation, and problem solving at both headquarters and site-locations.
  • Collaborate activities with account managers at assigned strategic accounts in the territory.
  • Lead collaboration and coordination across all LGC Standard’s resources (account managers, End-market sales managers, quoting specialists, customer service) to ensure a positive customer experience and the success of all ongoing account planning initiatives.
  • Promote LGC Standard’s products and brands, utilizing available marketing programs and distributor channels as needed.
  • Meet and exceed forecasted sales targets for LGC Standards.  Produces sales proposals to meet requirements of sales bids.
  • Act as coach and mentor to members of the sales organization, providing leadership to improve sales skills and foster career development.
  • Develop in-depth understanding of the LGC products and their applications.
  • Use LGC’s sales tools to manage prospects, existing accounts, opportunities, pipeline and to forecast in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Increase awareness of the LGC Standards brand by organizing and attending exhibitions, seminars, and other events.

Qualifications

  • BSc in chemistry, physics, biochemistry, biology, or similar disciple, combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Proven experience in selling technical products used in research laboratories: Prior successful key account management experience engaging with central procurement is preferred.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as RFQs, contracts, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Experience with customer relationship management platforms such as SalesForce and Desk. Expertise in Microsoft Office products is a plus.
  • Outstanding commercial awareness and planning abilities.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
  • Proficiency in English crucial with additional languages an advantage (Spanish, French).
  • Willing to travel up to 40% within the designated territory as the need arises.

  • Anticipates and manages demand variability, capacity constraints, and operational risk to protect supply reliability for strategic customers.
