Job Summary:
The Strategic Account Manager represents designated Taylor product lines across an assigned portfolio of strategic accounts and is accountable for achieving sales volume, profitability, customer retention, and growth objectives. Reporting to the General Sales Manager and Director of Sales, this role develops and executes documented account plans to acquire, grow, maintain, and defend key customer relationships while delivering a world-class customer experience. The Sales Manager builds trusted relationships from frontline operations through the executive level and coordinates closely with Taylor’s dealer network, direct sales organization, aftermarket team, Used Equipment, Engineering, Finance, and other internal resources to develop comprehensive solutions for each customer’s material-handling needs. Responsibilities include managing the full sales process; maintaining accurate CRM records, forecasts, and account activity; supporting pricing, financing, trade-in, and special-application requirements; and communicating market intelligence, competitive activity, product opportunities, and customer needs to Sales Management. Success in this role requires extensive knowledge of Taylor and competitive equipment, strong strategic and consultative selling skills, sound business judgment, disciplined account management, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conducts effective sales effort, operating under existing company policies. Recommends Sales policies as requested.
- Initiates sales order. Cooperates with sales personnel to process.
- Keeps record of activity. Submits reports as requested and maintains full data in company CRM tool.
- Contributes to corporate promotion activities. Attends trade shows; furnishes field research data; serves as public relations representative.
- Cooperates with other departments of Taylor correlate customer needs with company service.
- Keeps informed on Taylor and competitive equipment.
- Maintains excellent personal and corporate image.
- Evaluates effectiveness of sales effort. Strives to upgrade abilities.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Competence in sales techniques and an intimate knowledge of competitive equipment to include material handling problems and needs.
- Excellent communication skills and presentable appearance are a must.
- Must be able to travel, as business demands, on an almost daily basis.
- Computer literacy and attention to detail required.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field preferred and ten years’ experience selling capital goods, preferably in the material handling industry.
- Demonstrable experience with customer relations in ground level operations through C-Suite.
- Experience with Taylor products would be preferable.
